We used to kill a few in Johnson Bayou but not many. A friend in HS who was starting out in taxidermy things mounted me a few "shoulder mounts". One was a widgeon. Talk about a pretty mount. It's like a frontal. Doesn't take a lot of space either. I don't have them anymore.
First weekend of teal season was pretty good. 6 hunters shot 6 limits Sat am. 3 of us went out Sunday and bagged 3 birds each.
Well? Did the bugs eatcha ass up? I keep getting invited and people are still limiting out around here so I picked up some stamps and a license. One of my employee's husband has a killer 6 man blind and invited me. We're going one morning this week- Tuesday, I think. Will post pics if we kill.
It happened and the bugs nearly killed me and I say that without a shred of sarcasm, BF says I killed several but he kept saying "nice shot" when he was shooting too......I know I killed at least one that landed, which I also learned is frowned upon. Sunday he brought some gadget that kept the bugs away, some gas operated thing. Worked like a charm.....I shot a box of shells and I can barely move my arm today.
I took a picture and I have no idea how to get it to upload....tried dragging it into message and it won't work, any suggestions?
upload it to photobucket or other online account. Then in your message click the insert/edit image button (looks like a tree) and paste the link from photobucket in the resulting dialog box.
I actually have a hard time killing them on the water and usually get them when they take off. When their wings are down and half of their bodies are in the water it's harder. I've heard "shoot under" and all kind of stuff. We were three this morning and got our limit in 10 minutes. Will post pics when I get home. Speaking of on the water, two groups came in at once and I knocked down two in the group on my end of the blind but one was cripple. After a while, they said maybe I should shoot it make sure it didn't wonder off. I thought it was far but shot and was stoked about getting it. We were in a nice 6 man blind. When we were standing outside the blind, leaving, they were still coming in. Could've killed 50 easily. Going back in the morning. Btw, I thought you were just "going". Had no idea you would be hunting. I'm impressed. You must really like this chump.
