All of this is why schools should not volunteer themselves to help out in this effort...

If they are still there when the kids get back on campus, this could get bad...

It isn't so bad at LSU, b/c from what I hear, it is a hospital mostly, but still

I work downtown for the state and in my building there was a quick wave of mass hysteria... they even had people driving by in state vehicles telling us to stay inside... I think we're on lockdown now. Greaaaaaaaaaaat.

I am now concerned about these kids entering Lafayette Parish School. They should at least wear different color uni'sso they can be identified and monitored. It works in the work place. Don't knock an early warning.

I am in Lafayette and our building is now being locked down too. We are going told that they have just robbed 4 stores in Lafayette: Wal-Mart on Pinhook, Lafayette Shooters and Super 1 on Ambassador Caffery, and one more store.

Most of those people have nothing to go back to a will become residents of BR and surrounding areas. You'll have people who have a new appreciation of life a contribute to the betterment of BR and you'll have the rest. Good luck!

why would the news lie when it would put people in danger?

I think 95% of these reports are just hear-say thing taken to the extreme

IT's really sick that people act like this when you're trying to help them. Baton Rouge did not have to let these people in, but they did. I have no compassion for the thugs.

Well, the chancellor just sent a campus-wide memo.

There have been confirmed reports of civil unrest in the Baton Rouge
area this morning. These incidents appear to be confined to specific areas
in the downtown Baton Rouge area and specific locations around the
community. At this time, local law enforcement are reported to have the
situation contained. To insure safety, we have instructed that all
buildings on campus be locked and we ask that occupants remain indoors.

We are confident in the security procedures of LSU Public Safety and these
actions will permit their timely response to any incidents that may occur
    on our campus.

This is a trying time for all of us in the affected areas and beyond.
Our efforts now center on safety and recovery. We are primarily concerned with the safety and well being of the LSU community and we urge that safe choices be made. For those on campus who would feel more secure in their homes, we urge that you leave campus in an orderly fashion. Please beaware that these incidents of unrest in the community make travel an unknown risk at this time. Permitting time for the law enforcement personnel to work through these challenges will likely improve the security outlook in the near term.

Above all else, think through the choices being considered to assure
    your safety.

    Chancellor Sean O’Keefe

UH lets see maybe to make sure the community of law abiding citizens continue to willingly accept people since they have no where else to put them.
