Yet, you've argued that 9/11, 8 months post-inauguration, was on Bush's watch, therefore his fault.

You're smarter then that Red. The pieces of the puzzle that caused the slide began WAY, WAY before 2007. Legislation in 1993 started a series of critical government mistakes in financial laws. You can point to about 7 or 8 of them under both Clinton and Bush's watch that is causing us to eat a $hit burger. It would have been one thing if just one or two of these mistakes failed but instead they ALL failed and the cumulative effect resulted in the mess we have now. Whats more troubling is several of these policies where passed under the pretense of being "politically correct". This is no reason to be passing lax financial laws and will go down in history as one of the dumbest reasons ever for government financial policy.

    Inaccurate.

I have never argued that 9/11 was Bush's fault. What I said was that Bush ignored bin Ladin before 9/11 despite the fact that he was warned that bin Ladin presented a significant terrorist threat. And it's not really my argument. It has been documented in Richard Clark's book, "Against All Enemies". He was the President's terrorism czar and he couldn't even get a meeting with Bush to consider Al Qaida terrorism until a week before 9/11. Too little . . .too late.

This has been documented in The 9/11 Commission Report as well and admitted to under oath by Condoleeza Rice. The CIA delivered a Presidential Daily Briefing to Bush entitled "Bin Ladin Determined to Attack inside the United States" on August 6th, yet no action was taken until September 12.

For a third piece of evidence try "Imperial Hubris" the book by Michael Scheuer, 22-year CIA veteran who ran the Counterterrorist Center's bin Laden station.

No, Bush was not responsible for 9/11, Al Qaida was. Bush was responsible for not being ready for it despite previous warnings.

Spin it any way you want, but the budget was balanced, the deficit was being paid down and the economy was strong under Clinton. The market crashed in 2001 and again in 2008, both under Bush.

My objection was to the implication that this Recession was on Obama's watch, therefore his fault. Facts are . . . the recession is on Obama's watch, but the economy crashed on Bush's watch.

Exactly. Great evidence that it all began under Clinton's Watch. Just like 9/11.

The Affordable Housing Ponzi Airplane was launched under Clinton's Watch, Crashed under Bush's, and Consequences will be mismanaged under Obama's.

It would take a Ronald Reagan to see us through this Leftest Mess.

This post is unassailable. The economy can and normally does run independently of the Presidency, but the President's agendas can have direct effects, even they're unseen for a period of time.

Perfect storm of Clinton's "every fool should own a house for no apparent reason" coupled with Bush's "we can print our own money" spending policy, and capped off by Vladimir's "Government cures all" bizarro world strategy.

Lovely. I need some Lee Greenwood.

Ronald Reagan left huge deficits. This recession is not the 81-82 one. What worked then wouldn't work now.

And please, blaming Clinton for a recession in 2008?

Oh, I see, it's all the democrats fault. Despite the fact that for the last eight years, we had a republican president, for 12 of the previous 14 years, a republican congress, and conservatives had a 5-4 (minimum) majority on the Supreme court. That's pretty much full control of all 3 branches of goverment.
