I wish I had a place to go shoot some doves.

No offense or anything, but just thinking about that makes me sick. I know people eat it, but to me, it's akin to eating a rat. Yuck!

It's all about how different people view different animals. Have you ever been around live cows? Dude, those f'rs are nasty. Chickens eat their own feces. When all is said and done, every living breathing animal is food.

Can't argue with that and perception plays a large part in it too. Never eaten a live cow, but have eaten plenty of dead ones. As for chickens, I only eat white meat, so I'm not impacted by them eating their own bowel movements. :D

I used to hunt the shiatt out of rabbit, squirrel, and pheasant. Meat is great and easy as hell to cook in the crock pot. Hunted geese a few times and took one to thanksgiving dinner at my first ex-wifes moms house... never really cared for canadian goose too much though, somehing about it just never really tasted right.

Most guides out here in Texas will not eat any goose. The only way I cook it is to smoke it.

Completely different meat too. Quail is pretty much white and dove is dark. Dove, to me, is like a miniature teal.

On geese, the specklebellies are like teal too. I've never eaten Canada geese. It's "Canada" btw. One of my peeves. Second time today I happen to hear/see someone misuse it (as is often the case). The suffix "ian" means from, belonging to. With the Canada goose, it's a name- not geese "from" Canada.

You do. I have some in my 16 acre pasture that are taking over my chicken coup. They lite on a high wire too. Easy hunt. A lot of those eurasian doves, I think they're called. No limit during the season. Shoot me a pm if you want in. It would be a great hunt to take a kid.
