I think Carter will redshirt, and possibly Early too if Clayton stays. Too many WR's means we could lose Buster and/or Hill. Kind of like the QB situation last year.
The thing I really liked reading about Early Doucet is that he is academically qualified and carries a GPA of 3+. Nick Saban continues to sign not only great athletes but also people who evidently have those high character qualities that belong at LSU.
does this mean you dont think nick would have recruited a number one WR prospect in his own backyard if he had, say, a 2.1 GPA? Just because someone has poor grades doesn't mean they are a bad person. Perhaps they are just stupid.
It doesn't make them a bad person, it simply means they may never academically quality. The commentators for the Army All-American High School game had to qualify many comments about how great some of the players would be in college with "that's if he qualifies academically"
If Clayton stays I think they will redshirt Carter only. It will be tempting to reshirt Doucet as well. If Amp Hill is as good as advertised, he may be gone to the NFL after playing only 2 years.
I think I would redshirt both Early Doucet and Xavier Carter if Clayton Stays. That way you don't burn Craig Davis and Dwayne Bowe. Only way I take Doucet's redshirt off is if someone got hurt.
bLeSeUr and Hatcher, I NEVER meant to infer that having a lower GPA made you a "bad person." Sheesh! My GPA my first year at LSU was Blutarskyesque and I wasn't a "bad person" (just a stupid one, temporarily), so I guess I chose the wrong wording and made my point poorly. Let me try again: I always like to read of an athlete (or any high school kid) who has good grades. LSU's graduation rate under the previous regime was awful, and some national writers have used that information to make LSU look bad. So signing kids who happen to also be good students is, to me, a good thing. Those who have been less successful academically can come to LSU and use the amazing resources that are made available to them and grow as a student and a person. There are people on the team now who are examples of that, and I applaud them with all my heart.
