Dorsey seemed to be crowding the middle to stop the run rather than all out pass rushing. Also, Pittman had several times when he wasn't blocked, had a straight shot to Tebow and got faked out leaving Tebow free to roll out. Had he been able to make those plays, many of their drives would have stalled. Give credit to Tebow for that.
Other than not calling Bayless a moronic, idiotic, buffoon, MLUTiger nailed my perception of Glenn's performance. He didn't do much in the 1st half, but pressured Tebow much better in the 2nd half, particularly at crunch time.
You guys do understand why Mr. Dorsey didn't have a better game statistically right? He had to change the way he normally plays for this game. He normally charges off the snap, gets rid of his blocker and blows up plays in the backfield. You could tell by watching replay that Pellini changed the way the D line usually plays. If Mr. Dorsey would have played like he normally does there would be too much penetration opening up the middle. They call it a smush rush where you try to contol the line of scrimmage instead of penetrating.
We are suppose to focus on the positive, aren't we??? I saw the show and Bayless did Dorsey was dominated which I laughed att. The more important point was who Bayless was responding to. The topic was about who should win the Heisman. The other guy was stating that Glenn Dorsey should win the Heisman. After he explained on why Dorsey is so great and the LSU defense is the best in college for the past 25 years then Bayless made his typical scripted negative response. So I agree, Dorsey should win the Heisman. If there continues to be no real front runner and LSU continues to have a great season then I do think Glenn Dorsey can win the Heisman. But only if he continues to play at the level he is.
Charles Woodson is the only defensive player to win the Heisman, certainly in the last 40 years, possibly ever. The odds of Glenn winning the Heisman are slim at best.
So the facts are: 1. LSU won the game and we are 6-0 vs Florida's 4-2 2. Dorsey was somewhat 'neutralized' due to great play by Tarrt 3. Bayless largely disagrees with whatever the other analyst says.
I'd say he has as much of a chance this year as any of the other front runners if he continues having great games. The Heisman trend is that it goes to the best player on one of the best teams. That last part makes Colt Brennan's chance of winning it a long shot. Brohm is all but out of it due to Louisville's collapse. Had Florida won, Tebow would definitely be a top candidate, but unless Florida wins out in spectacular fashion, he won't get it this year. DeShawn Jackson (sp?) at Cal could be the favorite if he continues to put up gaudy numbers from here on out. But there is no clearly superior candidate.
4. Pellini changed the way the defense played. Instead of a mad rush to the QB, they simply stood up the o-line and waited for little-bow to make a move. Very Auburn like...
I agree that there is no clear cut superior candidate. Glenn is going to have to play lights out the last six games to merit serious consideration. I hope he does and becomes the first DL, possibly ever, to hold the trophy.
