    Yep.

I don't want to be Tennessee either.... Then again, Tennessee hasn't been Tennessee for over 5 years

And yet LSU won 2 NC's with QBs who never set the world on fire with their speed. But setting that aside for the moment it's becoming evident that Miles is going to utilize the dual-QB system for the foreseeable future, which alleviates some of those deficiencies by using Jefferson or Sheppard. As far as improvement goes, it's subtle but it's there. For the first time I saw Lee actually throw the ball away with no one open instead of forcing a throw into coverage. As fans we can only judge the on-field product, only Miles can make a fully-informed judgment about how much he's improving.

I think this may be the one thing that shocked the hell out of Miles last night. It's clear now, even going back to last year, that LSU has big time problems covering against the spread. It's not a gimmick offense anymore, and it ain't going away in college football. I think Miles will do the right thing in the offseason and bring in some fresh blood to fix this.

It's significantly improved from the rock-bottom state special teams was in last year. We're not gonna start playing Beamer-ball in the span of one season with a new coordinator.

LSU has the coaching, talent and recruiting to do this every year right now. It seems like you're trying to predict failure based on a season where we all knew from the start that the team was going to struggle, and there's still a good bit of football left to play. Bottom line is we have our problems (no surprise), Miles knows what they are and I'm confident he'll do what it takes to fix them.

Good points. But both Mauck and Flynn could run enough to evade the rush, at least. And Flynn was always a threat to pick up a crucial first down with his feet. Lee, on the other hand, looks like he's got lead in his boots.

I, like you, have confidence in Miles. A team without an excellent head coach could never have made up a 28 point deficit in just over 16 minutes. I don't care who it was against.

Nevertheless, I'm sure we'll agree LSU's next three games are crucial to the mentality of the team and its fans going into next year. Go 3-0, quit throwing it to the opponent, and start playing nasty defense, and the Tigers could be back on top in 2009.

Go 1-2 or 0-3? We don't even wanna think about it, do we? :dis:

Saturday vs. Ole Miss is huge!

Out of fairness to Lee, he really hasn't had to scramble a whole lot this year, so that aspect of his game could improve.

Absolutely right about Ole Miss. Houston Nutt has a history of giving us fits on defense, and he can still do it even without a McFadden or Felix Jones. How this team finishes its last 2 regular season games will tell us a lot about where it's headed.

But what's really interesting is, given the extraordinary situation for Big 12 South teams this year, LSU will likely play an excellent team in the Cotton. Pulling out a win over OU/Texas/Texas Tech would be an enormous accomplishment going into next year.
