This team is one prima-donna away from threatening to repeat. CLM did everything he could possibly do there. LSU is recruiting better than ever. I have to wonder at the DC problems. But the defense fell apart mid-season last year as well. It was the offense that won the crystal. Only a moron would be excited about struggling to beat Troy. The same kind of moron that sees disaster in losing to Georgia, Florida and Bama this year.
Yeah but that was due to injuries. And it was only for about a 5 game stretch. This season, no excuse. And it's lasted all year.
I think it is silly to say the future of LSU football is in trouble. Of course it all depends on your definition of trouble. LSU has an incredible amount of talent on the team (more 4 and 5 star recruits than all but 4 teams in the nation), and the recruiting class is currently ranked third by rivals with fourteen 4 and 5 star recruits and more to come. We have the best player in the nation, a QB, coming on campus in 8 weeks, (as rated by ESPN). We have a great head coach, that has shown loyalty to the program, and our OC is fantastic. We have awesome facilities for our players, and an incredible history, fan base, and atmosphere. If you define trouble as not winning the SEC every other year, and not winning the NC at least once every 5, than yes, I guess we are in trouble. But so is everybody else. There is too much great competition to dominate the SEC. This is the greatest decade in the history of LSU football! Enjoy it!
Disagree. There were injuries, but the biggest problem was (and remains) LB pass coverage and mediocre at best QB pressure. Once that was exposed mid season, the gig was up. And it lasted the rest of the season. I'm not defending Miles/Peveto/Mallory. I just don't see the clear case that it's all coaching.

Look folks. Next Saturday is November 22. And everyone on this board knows that LSU beating Ole Miss in Death Valley is, at best, a 50/50 proposition. Enough said. The future of LSU football is in trouble.
Please use emoticons. I can't figure out if you're being sarcastic or need to take your prozac and get laid. Just in case it's the latter - you should bookmark your post so you can find easily next year when you'll be wanting to eat it.
You had some impression that we seeing the same team we saw the week before? Since bama only tied us, was Troy that much better? Or perhaps LSU was completely flat? Let me know when it does. Until then, I will just keep cheering my Tigers on to victory. BTW, did we win tonight??? Rest like they had on the opening drive down the field, or the next one, or the next one? You mean, rest like that? As usual, despite poor play team wide, the qb is the only thing that really needs to change. Predictable...
name me one time in his 3 1/2 years that he has really NEEDED to change a coach. I can think of 1 off the top my head: Bradley Dale off of special teams. And he did that. We can say all this "he's loyal, blah, blah, blah." But it's easy to be loyal to your staff when you win 12 games a year. We don't know how he will handle having an actual sore thumb. From what I hear, this experiment will probably end after this year. The only coach he ever didn't get along with was Jimbo and he was told in not so many words to leave.
Actually - Looking at this season I thought LSU would just play better. I do agree that we have great talent & I thought we had great coaches. With a few breaks we could have beaten Georgia & Alabama in spite of the way we played. So I guess we lost two games we shouldn't have & won one so far that we shouldn't have (Troy). Is the future bleak? Of course not, but something is just not right. I am no coach, or football expert other than having watched football for over 60 years & I say this team is not playing hard all the time. If second stringers is what brought us back against Troy then the coaches need to play them more. If we win out then it will be a fairly successful season I guess. I just thought we would play harder this year. Maybe that bullseye on our back is getting heavy.. Oh, not to bring up a sore subject but I always loved the way Saban ripped & roared on the sidelines. This team sure could use some of that this year - some emotion & fire, some ass chewing & butt kicking.:geaux:
