It is obvious that manager had an issue with LSU because of whatever reason and then turned it on to this Dan guy after he made a fuss about confirming his party to come watch the game. It is perfectly fine to reserve a spot for a UF party which looks like had low turnout but it was reserved for UF and whoever else wanted to come in except LSU fans. This got the manager fired and the owner pleading to Facebook that his wife is from LA and an LSU fan. Looks like the other fanbases also made a fuss about this policy and the really dumb letter as well as LSU fans. Will it hurt the business? Probably at least a little. LSU fans pack Destin and surrounding areas all year including myself and have had this mentioned to me by many business owners around there. Like Omaha many of these places keep LA beers stocked, etc... There Yelp rating might hurt the worst though if they can't get Yelp to clean it up, last I checked it went to 2* rating. In the long run it probably wont hurt at all.
It's a resort town reliant on tourist business. They can't afford to alienate the tourists, almost non of whom are Florida fans. Wise up.
I wish I could find some real stats on tournism...Evey time I have been on the beach or at resturants, etc...it is usually LSU fans that dominate. Auburn, MSU, and Bama are well represnted as well. Usually when you see items for sale in shops and gas stations you see LSU, Bama, Auburn, and FSU. But I rarely see UF when it comes to fans or items to buy.
That was really stupid. It's like people have no idea how to run a business nowadays. I can promise you I don't give two shits what hat you are wearing as long as you're willing to pay me and not acting like an ass.
There is a spice shop in downtown Fort Worth that is run by a Gator. That's where I get my cumin and chili powder, the shop is awesome for those of you in DFW, it's called Pendery's. I was there before the Auburn game and he actually said he was pulling for LSU.
