JLMSooner, Its not a Louisiana vs Texas thing. I live in Texas now so thats whats close. I dont really hate Texas, I dont like many of the people here. But I dont hate Texas I just love Louisiana, Ironically, all my friends here are either from Louisiana or Oklahoma. My OU buddies feel the same way, the only difference is OU won it two years ago. You have experience all the press and accolades. LSU has not, it was our turn to get all the press, all the articles.... I think OU is getting the shaft as well. What really pissed me off is the media is taking it away from those kids. Both teams.
Rankings In the matter of public opinion, we may have a split National Championship, but as far as the record books go.....there will only be 1 National Champion and that will be determined Sunday Night. Whether the coaches like it or not, they agreed to this system. The winner of the Sugar Bowl is the National Champion. I don't give a crap what Carrol and his those west coast crybabies think. If they don't like the system we have, then great lets change it. But for now, the National Champion will be crowned Sunday night and LSU will be playing in that game. Does it damper the Sugar Bowl? Hell no! But it give those little babies something to cry about.
Dude take it from someone over 1000 miles away. No one disrespects Louisiana due to this split national championship. No one will think more or less of LA and LSU if USC claims a share to the title. I don't think anyone though less of Nebraska or Michigan when there was a split in 97. Look at the bigger picture for a change. I think you need to realize what other parts of the country think about Louisiana and Louisianans is not soley dependent on the sugar bowl and usc's claim to half a championship.
That is not a true statement. They will get the AP trophy after the AP has their final vote (if the AP votes USC #1). This is also not true: The BCS never "eliminated" anyone or thing from declaring a national champion. The BCS simply controls the process by which the Coaches poll trophy is awarded. Oh well.....it's still a "national championship" whether the AP or Coaches say so. Let's enjoy ours and beat OU.

However I digress, No in two months the National Media and other people will go back to calling Louisiana a dump, un-educated people, in-breds the whole nine yards. I guess I did not illustrated my point well enough. No its not going to change the perception of Louisiana outside of our state in the long run. That was not my point. My point was, for a brief moment in time, LSU something we are all very passionate about was going to be in the spot light. Everyone was to talk about LSU vs OU, how they are playing for the most coveted prize in college sports... It was a chance just for a bit for Louisiana to be in the National Spotlight, LSU to be in the national spotlight. For people in my office to give me a reprieve... Look I am coming off like a female body part, But seriously I have waited my entire life for this moment as an LSU fan. And for anyone to say it does not bother them that the USA today has an article saying the Sugar Bowl is meaningless, or a writer saying the reward for LSU's magical season is simply "An exhibition game that means nothing" Is full of shit..... We wanted respect as well a bid to the national championship game. I guess you guys have it better, but ever since I have moved to Texas people have ripped on Louisiana, LSU sports, its fans. (Mostly from UT and A&M fans I might add) it was our turn to shut them up. Now they have something else to pile on.. I dont know what its like in other states, but I know what its like here. Aside from our cooking skills, I have yet to hear anything positive about Louisiana.. I am pretty f*(cking proud to be where I am from....
I am sure a lot of Tiger fans were both disappointed at the USC win and angered by the irresponsible and presumptive comments made by the TV media. I don't think Texastigers should feel all that bad. LSU will get it's chance in the limelight on Sunday, esp. if they play heck of a game. The chance for national exposure is already there. Just think of the fact that the entire state, and Tiger fans nationwide are all pumped up and esctatic about this opportunity. Think of the positives and achievements of the team this year, as I am sure Saban would like his team to focus and build on. They are doing quite well this year again in recruiting.I recently even saw a billboard off I-10 near Gulfport, Miss. advertising the LSU Tigers welcoming traffic heading west to the Nokia Sugar Bowl! ________ Trade Credit Insurance Dicussion
heck....who knows....if we can go out there on Sunday night and put on an awesome show and totally annialate (sp ?) OU, maybe some of the voters will see who's really #1. This USC game was on Thursday and our game is on Sunday. There can be a lot of thinking and mind changing going on between then and Sunday. OU, I don't mean to disrespect you by saying "annialate". If it comes down to you doing the dominating and blow LSU out, I'd be more happy to see you get the AP vote instead of USC.
I think there will still be plenty of media hype for the SB, considering the fact that it isn't played until Sunday, and will be the only game left. USC is today's news. By Sunday, they will be yesterday's.
I guess I listened to the wrong tv shows and radio stations this morning. I have no heard ONE person say anything Positive about the Sugar bowl aside the fact its a "good game" All I have heard so far was, "Its a joke", "Its meaningless", "USC is the undisputed National Champion regardless of that computer game", to name a few...
All this will go away by Sunday. Sure, USC made a lot of big plays, however, Michigan played its worst game in 3 years. UAB probably could've beat Michigan yesterday. That wasn't even a game so how could it even be considered that USC is the "undisputed" NC ? The Sugar Bowl will be a battle of the two BEST teams in the country, not Michigan and one of the most "liked" teams.
