sounds like you have a god complex, jk.

just to make sure were on the same page, what is an agnostic and what is an athiest? you say you dont know that there is a god. well, i consider myself and athiest a share that view. i also acknowledge that there might be a god, which i think many/most athiests will not do. i suppose labels are not messy enough.

in my extensive experience around southern christians id like to say that bandit's view of prayer is atypical.

i have never met or even heard of an atheist that says that it is not possible that god exists.

once again, not believing in something is not the same as being certain it is impossible. i do not believe LSU will win the SEC tournament, but it certainly is possible. i am an atheist with regard to LSU's chances. i dont believe in them.

You open a can of worms because what I and the dictionary define as atheist, our outspoken local atheist disagrees with.

Atheists deny the existence of God while agnostics believe that if God exists we have no way of knowing it or what he expects from us, if anything.

martin believes the terms are synonymous which is clearly . . . stupid.

Would UFO's and Aliens be considered supernatural? Or life other than life on Earth? Because if so i do believe in the supernatural, because i believe that there is life out there somewhere.

again, my view is held by virtually every atheist, and certainly every famous prominent atheist you have ever heard of. we all agree that the common definition is misleading and confusing and misunderstood.

there is a little more nuance there than the definition expresses.

if you think god exists why would you think you can never know what it wants? surely god can appear to you on the road to damascus or talk to you through telepathy or make a painting cry.

anyway by your definition am not athiest or agnostic. perhaps apathetic.

i would not consider them supernatural.

seems like the definition with only "disbeleives" in it is pretty good.

you want to sue too many people to be considered apathetic.

The word atheist means "not a theist". A theist is a believer in God. So atheist, in its Occam's razor simplest is "a disbeleiver in God".

If martin believes there might be a God, then he's an agnostic who won't admit it because it isn't cool like atheism.

do you believe in god? no? you are atheist. you were born atheist and unless you have been tricked into believing something since then you are still atheist.
