Does Perrilloux get a shot this year? Matt Flynn?

You hit the nail on the head. I disagreed with the decision to hire Miles, in the first place, but I thought.. give the guy a chance I think we should start looking, NOW. We have waaay too much talent to lose a game that we were in control of, in the first place.
We were very, very fortunate not to lose to ASU, too.

DAHM man ! YOU said it! we cant even get our blue chip QB's to get the ball from center!

Maybe they need to see the field regardless of how far we are ahead. maybe a spark is what we need. last year and this year all I've seen is Randall and jamarcus, not much of a choice. Kind of like do you want mayo on that or mayo? :dis:

I agree, but we weren't at that point last night imo. Ainge was horrible. I credit our defense to some extent, because Ainge has looked good against good defenses before, but the magnitude of the game and crowd just freaked him out. Fullmer had no choice, he was completely ineffective, Russell was inconsistent but marginally effective..plus Ainge was 'hurt' when Vaughn slammed him into the goal post. I saw him on the sidelines getting treatment.

I hope Flynn gets some reps during the MSU and/or Vandy game, and RP too if we can get up on them both. But the growing pains we are seeing with JR will be there with either Flynn (who hasn't started ever) or RP - so I'm just cautioning fans who think turning over the reigns to either one of them will help things. JR has proven he can play in big games, he's also proven he can flop in them...what he hasn't proven is that he has the ability to learn from the mistakes and be consistently excellent. That remains to be seen, but pulling him for another QB won't make it happen, and could significantly inhibit his mental state.

A mobile QB like RP would have been very, very beneficial last night. Russell would get decent protection and all day to throw, but everyone was being covered. If he were mobile, he could have exploited the UT defense for at least 65yds on the ground. But he's big and slow.

But RP is a true freshman. People that think we wouldn't be feeling these growing pains with another QB are fooling themselves (not talking about you contained).

But that's the thing. We're STILL feeling growing pains with JR. Now, I don't think we need to abandon JR by any means. But if he's going to keep goofing up and impersonating Aaron Brooks, wouldn't you just have similar consequences with a Frosh? If the consequences are similar, it'd be better to have someone that could leave the pash rush in the dust. Gives you more options. I don't know. The God damn sky is falling right now so I don't even know which way is up.

yeah if it's going to be maybe throw the ball 15 yards or 80 or fumble, I'd just as soon see what RP has. maybe he can scramble?

It's not hard to defend when you man up your corners and have them jam recievers at the line throwing the perfect timing off. Because I was there, and you could see it unfold on every play from the view of the field I had when Tenn was going away. You could see Clausen counting his recievers steps and putting the ball right where they were going to be 3 steps later when they make their break. If you are on the line shoving them around the QB can't do that.

There is nothing wrong with a vertical passing game. No one was complaining about it in 01.

Doesn't really matter who's under center. Our offensive playcalling is so vanilla that you or I could be back there. Hell! I can throw the ball 15 yards! ...and since that's the furthest our offensive playcalling is willing to do, it doesn't matter who's back there.
