You would be hard pressed to find legal Mexicans who would want the job let alone any anglo-saxon protestants. Anyone here want to line up for some berry pickin jobs? I understand the argument between cities although I would take Lake Charles in a heart beat but out here there is a particular dislike between San Diego and LA. Same things can be said from both cities. I like Khounba's answer best in that there are qualities found in both cities. You get what you take from it. Try living in BF Georgia for a stretch and you might find yourself begging for some New Orleans, or Baton Rouge for that matter.
well said. I feel the same way but i might have said it differently. I would have said something like -- I just don't like the people of New Orleans. I am a Lafayette boy who has a lot more in common with New Orleanians than people of Baton Rouge, but i just can't stand a large number of people from NO. The "I am the most important" and "you owe us" attitudes from NO annoys the hell of out me.
growing up in LC, i think there is a hatred for N.O. but unlike all the opinions mentioned so far, it is mostly because of religion. most evangelical protestants have no love lost for catholics. my grandpa told me that during his day the main function of the klan was to keep the catholics out. i do think "hatred" is too strong a word, but dislike is only worse since K and this is because of race and jealousy.

You said Baton Rouge, not East Baton Rouge parish. They are separate things. This is pre-white flight and pre-Katrina. Baton Rouge, Louisiana - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia And here is the estimated census notes for EBR Parish. East Baton Rouge Parish QuickFacts from the US Census Bureau
I thought this discussion was about the city of New Orleans and the city of Baton Rouge or at least that's what the title suggests. I also didn't know that Nagin was the mayor of the chocolate parish, I thought it was the City of New Orleans. Maybe Denham Springs residents can get Kip Holden to do something about their potholes since it's a city parish government and all. Your twisting things to fir your argument Red, this is about Baton Rouge and New Orleans as the title and most of the posts suggest and neither is a white anglo/saxon city.
