WOW I didn’t think you really wanted to know what I believe, but now I really feel the need to state my beliefs because you’ve said I’m cowardly if I don’t. . .and . . OMG I must respond to such pure logic. Oops, I hope you didn’t find my use of the ‘G’ reference offensive – it’s really just a figure of speech. Are you PC?

    Anyway here ya go. And if your busy Christmas shopping online just shoot back "busy" and I'll type a response for you - because we all pretty much know what you’re going to say;

I believe my religious beliefs are irrelevant in this thread. Over the course of 5 decades I’ve seen so many versions of the God vs No God argument and they are always circular. Nobody ever says “WOW thanks for that enlightening perspective I now [pick one; believe or don’t believe] in God. Never happens. And I’ve certainly not seen anything that indicates your open to new thoughts on the matter. And to be precise we’re not talking about faith, we are talking about faith in God. You have faith, just not in God.

I believe no one should be treated as second class citizens, [remember the thread topic] not Atheists, Muslims, Buddhists, or Born Again Christians. But I do believe you have to be a citizen to get the benefits of citizenship.

I believe people who see opposing points of view as ‘stupid’ possess the quality of ‘close mindedness, which is not a good quality. There is no ‘one true path’ for a society to develop; it has to have the flexibility to adapt to the unexpected bumps in history. Societies of close minded people eventually miss solutions to problems they face. The same is true on an individual level.

I believe you are arrogant and hostile because of your debate tactics; the people who disagree with you are cowardly and stupid. And I believe this about you because of what you say - you hate all religions. I don’t care what people believe, I care how they act on it. And your actions are to aggressively and arrogantly disrespect and dismiss anyone who doesn’t share your views on God. I believe that’s a bad thing to do no matter what the topic of conversation.

I believe creating groups of people and believing them to be something less than you – stupid for instance - is dangerous. I grew up in the segregated south. When you say all people who believe in God are extremely stupid, and you hate all religions; I hear similarities between that and the old favorites like “All N_ g _ _ s are stupid and immoral";or the common "I hate all N’s", and all the rest. Or the other bubba favorite "all ‘queers’ need to have their ass kicked". It’s a dangerous way to think because in times of social tension people put these thoughts in motion. It’s the kind of thing the Aryan race was saying 10 years before they gassed 6 million Jews. It’s important because in our current economic condition it’s not inconceivable we could face extreme social pressures in the years ahead.

I believe the universe is 13ish billion years old, and I believe in evolution, and I believe in God. I see no conflicts in that statement. One of the reason’s I believe in God because although I love science and math there are things in my life that are not totally explainable with the physical science disciplines. Although I’m confident you would attribute them to something similar to random chance or swamp gas.

I believe you are really a Dominican Nun angry at the oppressive paternalistic church hierarchy that forces you into subservient virginity and you rant online for release. [Just messing with you on this one]

Given that my favorite evolutionist has been unable to provide scientific data on the "simplicity" of a single cell, I'm getting more and more curious if such data exist. So I was curious just what do educated people and their normal propaganda machines think about these incredible complex numbers that "scientist" and others keep coming to.

National Geographic made an interesting observation about the instructions within the DNA of the cell, "if written out, would fill a thousand 600 page books, each cell is a world brimming with as many as two hundred trillion tiny groups of atoms called molecules, our 46 chromosomes threads linked together would measure more than six feet. Yet the nucleus that contains them is less than four ten-thousandths of an inch in diameter."
NEWSWEEK MAGAZINE I thought this was an interesting description, just to give an idea of the "complex cells." activity. "each one of those 100 trillion cells functions like a walled city. Power plants generate the cell's energy. Factories produce proteins, vital units of chemical commerce. Complex transportation systems guide specific chemicals from point to point within the cells and beyond. Sentries at the barricades control the export and import markets, and monitor the outside world for signs of danger. Disciplined biological armies stand ready to grapple with invaders. A centralized genetic government maintains order."

So here are just some evolutionist-past and present and their conclusion.

    Mathematician J.W.N.Sullivan
    - "The hypothesis that life has developed from inorganic matter is, at present, still an article of faith."
    Biologist Edwin Conklin
    - "The probability of life originating from accident is comparable to the probability of the unabridged dictionary resulting from an explosion in a printing shop."
Biochemist Francis Crick - "an honest man, armed with all the knowledge available to us now, could only state in some sense, the origin of life appears at the moment to be almost a miracle."
Astronomers Fred Hoyle and NC Wickramasinghe
    - "If one is not prejudiced either by social beliefs or by a scientific training into a conviction that life originated [spontaneously] on the Earth, this simple calculation [the mathematical odds against it] wipes the entire idea entirely out of court."

Your being much to harsh on yourself Martin. It's hard to be courageous in your situation.

It's difficult to show courage when you're a Dominican Nun angry at the oppressive paternalistic church hierarchy that forces you into subservient virginity. You have no option but to rant online for release.

But you've taken the first step. I pointed out your Order membership earlier and at least you haven't denied yourself. Now take the next step Martin, (or is it Martina, Marketa?) come out of the convent closet

We are here for you Sister!!

right. you cant address my points. you cant discuss why everyone is free to mock any viewpoint, unless that viewpoint is supported by faith.

any stupid thing that anyone believes, we are all free to mock it, unless the idiot who believes it claims it as faith. faith is not to be questioned. because nobody wants their own faith questioned, because faith is, by nature, irrational. and we have created a free pass for everyone. well, i dont play that game.

Oh Dear, sounds like Mass was tough today for you. The bad boys were playing games during Father’s homily on those who mock faith.

of course. prayer is a problem-solver. not a worthless and ridiculous waste of time, a primitive practice done by morons who think they can project their thoughts via magic to the king sorcerer. we should have respect for prayer.
