I voted no, but it's not a super-confident no. I never really thought Harbaugh was going to go to Michigan, but as this drags on without Michigan making any progress (at least publicly) in their search, it could be a very interesting weekend in Tigerland.
Well, with Luck staying at Stanford, I would say that Harbaugh is definitely going nowhere, and is now just basically working Stanford for more pay for him and his coaches. I voted no, and want to believe that, but the longer this goes on and the more candidates not filling UM's opening, the more I worry that Miles is the next HC for UM. The only thing that has me holding out hope that Miles is staying is because of Chavis' turn down to offers to go to UT, other than that there are a lot of things pointing to Miles not staying.
I'd be happy if we "stagnate" at 10/11 wins every season until Miles finally retires at LSU. I'd even stuff him and put him on the sidelines like JoePa. He'd literally be a legend at LSU with that type of stagnation.
I heard through the grapevine that if miles is offered, he will leave for UM. Top candidates for his succession were supposedly Bo pelini and Steve spurrier (i know right?). Tough to see it work out that way but this is what I was told this morning from my source close to TAF. Take it with a grain of salt, obviously. It's a very intriguing scenario. Miles has not made his intentions clear as of yet, which leads me, like many of you have stated, to feel uneasy about his future at LSU unlike the 2007 situation where he squashed the notion clearly. Whatever, I just wanna know who's going to be wearing the headset next year so I can kick this anxiety already!
Because of this, it will take away a little of the excitement from tonites game for some, for me at least. I mean sitting there watching our Tigers play, dismantling ATM, and worrying if this is his last dance with us. Not a good way to feel even if we do win.
I would not be opposed to that actually. What we need at LSU right now is someone who can develop QB's and I believe Spurrier can do that. As far as the difference between 2007 and now, I think part of it was the timing. I think Les was honestly pissed off that ESPN would break news like that the day of the SECCG, and that was the reason he came out so strong with a no. This year it was days before the game so he was able to come out with better poise and be able to say something that doesn't offend Mich (I'm sure he still cares for them) and yet still takes the doubt away. If Miles leaves, I won't be upset with him. I'll thank him for his service and wish him well, just not well enough to beat LSU in a NCG.
I'd have to agree. Not that I'm worried that much about LSU's future, I'm sure whichever direction this goes that LSU will be strong. I'm more concerned about losing a quality man that is a great ambassador for our school and state, regardless of what the haters may say.
I posted on Tuesday that Pellini would be the replacement IF Miles goes. I wasn't just pulling that name out of thin air either. This was per someone that knows whats goin on. LSU will be Ok!
