This is precisely what I am talking about. The kid brought his device to school, the teachers and administrators thought it was a bomb, police verified that it was not a bomb which the kid maintained all along. The teachers, administrators and police over reacted by taking the boy to juvie in handcuffs. In the absence of any defense for what really happened, now you are trying to make this about everything other than what it actually is. Now it's about the family's income, whether the father is running for President of Sudan, etc. Even the insinuation that his father would place his son in harm's way by advocating that he "hoax" the school is absurd. This is how far crazy this whole thing has become and why conservatives just cannot let it go.
Are you kidding me with this? What words are you talking about? And not some obscure imam in nowhere America. There have been no actions taken by any muslim except those to take American lives.
You can if you listen. There are two muslims in Congress. There are 3,500 on active duty in the military. Almost 7 million American muslims. We don't hear more about them for the same reason that we don't hear much about Mormons. Most of them just go about their lives and create no notoriety until a few of them marry multiple children wives and abuse them sexually. Muslim jihadists are the problem and we need to stay focused on them and not waste time and money worrying about muslims just going about their business.
Went right over your head. I'm saying these "good muslims" need to be making more noise about the bad ones. It just isn't happening.
When radical Christians blow up abortion clinics their actions are denounced by Christians. When jihadist muslims commit an atrocity muslims remain silent. Silence implies tacit approval.
It is but it's not news apparently to the media. http://www.washingtonsblog.com/2014/08/muslims-condemn-isis.html
ok so I didn't and don't have time to read all of it, the parts I did get through are promising, what isn't is that this isn't more readily available. I don't know where the fault there lies. These dudes need to be screaming it from the top of the mosque and making sure that the rest of the world hears them. I say that because I bet there are a lot more people that could give a shit less about a muslim than there are like TNC that just wants to hold their hands and sing Kumbaya. I still don't like em, they smell, they eat weird bread, dress funny, like to kill people for dumb ass reasons and they don't have very good bathroom etiquette. They make good tea though.
I already said I didn't think he had malintent and that the arrest was over the top. And yes, of course, just about everyone blew it out of proportion, including his supporters. Since when do words like accountability and responsibility have any relation to being insidious? Smart kids do dumb things all the time. They still need to be held to an equal standard when making choices within communities, societies, and places like school. Why do you think schools distribute a Code of Conduct and ask parents to read and sign a document accepting the rules? Why can parents be held legally responsible for their children's actions? For example, if a child accidentally starts a fire, the parents can be required to pay for damages and the cost to put it out. I never introduced the word guilt, nor have I ever said he should be punished. He knows he made stupid choices. Had he: asked the teacher for permission to bring a non-school project in, talked to his parents about bringing the device in, chosen not to bring it knowing that it looked potentially confusing, followed his electronics teacher's advice about putting it away, not used it in an English class, and answered questions more thoroughly (the police say he was not forthcoming when questioned), then nobody blows anything out of proportion. You see, I actually read the Code of Conduct that my school district makes available every year. I sign a document every school year for each child acknowledging that I have read it and that I will make every attempt to make sure my children nor I violate that Code. If this process was followed by this family and they discussed it with their very smart child, there is no way he brings that thing to school. If my child had done it, I would be holding them responsible and accountable, not pushing them in front of a news camera for attention. The police overreaction is not what alerted the media. His twitter account as set up by his sisters is what got all the initial attention. The press conference that was then organized by his family attorney garnered further attention. He and his family have now exploited this situation for all it's worth. Truly the American way. And Obama was one of several people/entities I listed. I didn't make it all about him, that's what you are trying to do.
