Lumping them all together is exactly what Osama Bin Laden and the 9/11 terrorists were hoping to do, Shane. Terrorists want us to engage them in a religious war because that is all they have and it is all they have had for thousands of years. On the other hand we have a secular government, a system of justice with checks and balances that does not take any one's religion into account, democratically elected officials who do not cut off the arms of those who oppose them and a host of other reasons why they abhor us. To change what we do here or how we do what we do here because of them is losing, not winning. I share your sense of vigilance when it comes to watching out for the next terrorist attack. I don't think any one who is honest doesn't think about it when they are in an airport. Our military training likely makes us even more aware than most when in such an environment. And yes, when I see people of middle eastern descent it heightens that awareness. Like I said, anyone who says they do not is likely lying. That said, when we start stopping every Muslim looking person for questioning or when we jump to the wrong conclusions about a 14 year old kid, we are only hurting ourselves and what we stand for around the world. I'll give the terrorists credit for one thing: they are good with propaganda because they've convinced the western world that they speak for all of Islam. It is a fine line we have to walk.
You could say the same thing about any group, sect, race or religion. There is good and bad in all.

 

Apples and Oranges my friend. You are correct that their intention was to start a religious war, and I don't disagree that we should avoid that. The problem is until THEY start to coral the most of this shit then they leave us no choice. If they want to promote a religion of "peace" then by god lets see more clerics denouncing the actions of these animals. Lets see them take an active role in finding and stopping them. Instead they shrug their shoulders and say "Insha' allah"

Bottom line, if THEY don't want to be lumped in as animals then the onus is on THEM to change the way we see them. If someone gets on here and says "all white people are racist" you can bet your ass I will be one of the first to try and prove them wrong and so and so forth. I have been there, and not at all claiming that makes me an SME but I have seen the deceit, the lying, the back stabbing and this was from folks that were supposed to be on our side. Until they take an active role in changing the rhetoric, the actions, and propaganda I will continue to lump every one of those donkey fucking cretins in one giant useless basket.
