"NBC-DFW reported that a police report released Tuesday cites a “hoax bomb” incident, listing three MacArthur High teachers as complainants against Mohamed.

Irving Police Officer James McLellan told the TV station that school officials were worried about the device.

“Clearly, there were disassembled clock parts in there, but he offered no more explanation than that,” McLellan said. “A lot of these details that the family and he have provided to you were not shared with us yesterday. He was very much less than forthcoming.”

I don't know why 3 days. I am willing to wait for an answer, if they are really required to provide one. Frankly, I think that's between the school and the family. Again, all we have heard is one side. I am guessing they wanted to use the opportunity to send a message to other kids about bringing unauthorized gadgets to school, to remind parents to re-read the Code of Conduct, and to make parents more vigilant about knowing what their kids are doing and the potential consequences of poor choices.

 

Yes, I have one of those too. In fact, I am around many of them on a regular basis. I am a grade-level advisor for our 9th grade charity organization. There are 24 of them....and they are a challenge.

I don't disagree with the first part of what you say. I did not suggest that he had a "sinister" motivation....no need for such emotional language. I gave a simple explanation for why he might have done what he did. He wanted praise, he got none, he got frustrated/hurt, and chose to act out a bit. He is 14 after all.....not above childish retribution that ends up hurting nobody but himself.

teachers and police have given their account of events. i don't know these people so I cannot call them racists. And as a matter of fact I have not called them racists. their judgement is in question. and to some degree or another you have to ask yourself if this would even be in the news if a white kid had done the same thing.

yep, so worried that they didn't call in the bomb squad or evacuate the school. every report I've seen specifies that the kid insisted it was a clock all along. how much more forthcoming do you want him to be? he told them it was a clock. it was a clock. what other explanation does he owe them?

exactly, you've offered nothing but conjecture and speculation about what the kid might have been thinking or what the teachers might have been thinking rather than paying attention to the verifiable facts that we do have. no one is disputing the chain of events, whether teachers or Ahmed. at issue is what transpired after everyone knew that it wasn't a bomb.
And let's not forget how this thread started....with everyone blasting the kid, with Shane calling him a terrorist, ready to burn him at the stake. Now that the facts have been presented that there was no evacuation and no bomb squad called yet the kid was still hauled to juvie in cuffs, everyone wants to make this about something else. Now it's about whether his parents have apologized or whether the schools code of conduct says anything about electronic devices, which by the way is very obviously directed toward phones, tablets, laptops, etc.

 

and there is absolutely no evidence that this muslim family are anything other than upstanding American citizens. at some point you have to be able to discern the difference between terrorists who purport to practice Islam and upstanding citizens of our country who happen to also be muslim.

 

They are not going to wear T shirts that say Good Muslim or Islamic Jihadist. Some other religions might have bizarre practices but they don't do suicide bombings or fly hijacked airplanes into buildings.

I did not suggest, imply, or say he should get any further punishment. I said that there should be no excusing or applauding his choices. At this point, the cat is out of the bag so to speak. No more punishment is needed or required. I just wish none of the hero worship/media darling crap had happened. NOBODY is talking about HIS role or his FAMILY's role in the story. He was never held to any accountability outside of the school or law enforcement.

I ask in all honesty....please attach the link where the teachers and police have given their specific detailed account of what transpired. I have seen only 2 things.....general commentary and Ahmed's news conference. The rep for the school district has said they declined to comment.

The rep for the PD said that the specifics that Ahmed and his family have discussed publicly were not given to police that day. I wasn't there....you weren't there. The exact questions and answers have not been made public. Maybe you know something we don't.

Fucking nonsense. I may be a lot of things, but inattentive to detail is not one of them. I have provided facts where they exist and given opinion but stated it as such. You on the other hand, have vilified law enforcement and teachers despite no actual testimony.

The police have said that Ahmed was not forthcoming with details when initially questioned.

The thread was started by a teacher.....a TEACHER. She deals with this shit every day. When we struggle to compete on a global basis, when we have daily bomb threats, when we can't even meet minimum standards on tests, we now expect our TEACHERS to be bomb recognition experts? Jesus Mary and Joseph. Ahmed is a precocious spoiled genius. That does not excuse him from any rules or the expectations regarding student behavior. Had the student in question been white with droopy drawers and a poor academic history, Obama would never have invited him to the WH.
