I think most people on this board still don't think Michigan should have another shot at it, they just want them to.
Many, including myself, would disagree with you on that one buddy. Losing to the number one team in the country, on their turf, by three points is about as good as anyone could expect. However, I lost respect for the BCS when all of the so-called pundits started their kick for teams like SC and ND instead of being objective. After Aubarn got snubbed for the title, I started to hope for the day that a play-off system would be implemented, and thus fueled my love-hate feeling toward the system. Of course I love the bowl games, but if they're not going to present a clear-cut winner the way they're supposed to (THE TWO BEST TEAMS) then, what's the point? Florida has a great case to play for the title, but you can't snub a team (UM) because of a trite technicality. If we're to go by the system, as it is, UM deserves to play OSU. The problem is, how do you tell the SEC champion, again, that they're goin' bowling somewhere other than the BCS title game? This is precisely WHY we need a new system. However, I want to see LSU play in the Rose. The end. End of story. I do NOT want to see them in New Orleans against a pathetic ND team. Sure it would allow more LSU fans to attend the game or party in NOLA, but that shouldn't be the deciding factor here. LSU deserves better than ND. But is it fair to UF that they would have to play ND? Of course if we took care of business against AU (despite the terrible officiating) things would be a lot easier to figure out, no? :geauxtige  LSU!
LSU first, SEC second. I'm with some of the others in the theory that more controversy this year pushes college football closer to a playoff system. I’m willing to take my chances that LSU doesn’t find itself in the same situation as Florida anytime soon. I also don’t buy into the strength of schedule argument for either Florida or Michigan. The NCAA table doesn’t consider when a team plays on the road. LSU clearly had a tougher schedule when you consider the road game factor. I think an argument can be made that LSU is the best team in the SEC right now. Finally, if for what ever reason you believe Ohio State is truly the #1 team in the nation, then Michigan is without argument #2 based on their performance against Ohio State, period. Finally,:helmet: Really, this entire argument is ridiculous. We need a playoff in Division 1 football. If we did, LSU would still be in the hunt for the Big Kahuna. :helmet:
The main problem I have with what you're saying (LSU getting screwed in the future) is that 2006 should take precedence over any hypothetical or suppositional situations that may be looming on the horizon.
Me too, I don't give a rat's behind about no one else right now. :geauxtige :geauxtige :geauxtige :geauxtige :geauxtige
