From a purely financial point of view, Charlie Weis still earned his 10 yr extension by coaching ND into two consecutive BCS bowl games, irregardless of the fact that ND did not win those two games. Just getting into a BCS bowl game is the big payday, not whether or not you win it.

To put that in perspective, USC has been operating on basically a zero balance budget the last two years. In other words, you can't spend any more money that has been budgeted.

The last time I looked, the USC program was just a bit over breaking out of the red. I want to say it was only about 500K.

In comparison to the amount on money in both schools coffer, LSU is in much better shape.

I know, this post wasn't directed at me. But, my story on my dislike of the ND program starts in 1966...

A couple of years ago I was in a conversation with one of the AP voters. I asked him why he had ND rated as high as he did. His response? "Because it's ND...and if I can vote them highly, I will." The conversation went on to talk about it had nothing to do with talent...

Granted, it is a good position for a school to be in...but, by no means is it the right position for voters to take.

That about sums it up for me. Thanks Terry....

Also, it comes with the territory, if you show up on our schedule, my dislike for you rises.

So, to use your philosophy. San Diego should give Snot for Brains an extenion since he has proven he can get to the post season, just not win there?

That's one thing I can't say. My dislike for schools normally comes from an individual, or two. Take UT as example...Fulmer combined with the blantant criminal behavior...led to that dislike. I loved beating UT and hated losing them under Majors...it was because of the respect I had for Majors that I didn't dislike them.

Combine '66 with the attitude of the media for ND...Holtz is just icing on that cake.

I guess we expect a little more from our coaches. It doesn't hurt that ND gets BCS money even if they don't make a BSC bowl. I guess you would be happy with that too.

And ND doesn't get as much as a conference school when they make a BSC game. Conference schools get 14 M and ND gets 4 M.
