Could someone translate... next year we have a good chance of winning a NC, why would we want to waste that in order to try and bait a big name coach, when in the end it will cause the same problem next year.

    I respectfully dissent

Fisher could well turn out to be a good hire, but just can't take the chance. It's too early to say the potential list "sux." I'd be thrilled w/ Petrino or Del Rio. I think Rodriguez would be a solid hire. I have no interest in Less Miles. And who knows what other candidates might be interested that we're not aware of? I have to believe Skip will hire a great coach.

Like you're god's gift to LSU FB forums ... with your cocky know nothing "Nuff said" ... push off & go play on your FENCE ... woody

I watched Cal this year ... and laid some good coin on them ... I see what's on the table

Spurrier was the best coach going this year as my post indicated ... imagine the timing of that ... and as another poster astutely noted ... Huizenga is a big Gator Homer

LSU has been cut ... deep wide & continuously.

IMO, no worthy candidates exist at this time ... for the job.

"Fisher until" we land the BIG ONE.

    Good point

You hate to "waste" next year ... any coach LSU hires will do good

But what about recruiting & keeping those Top 5 recruiting classes rolling in.

It's treacherous ground ... if they do "settle" for less (what's on the menu now) ... I hope they have the brains to make it a very short contract ... 2 years tops ...

When LSU doesn't sustain TOP RECRUITING ... the ride is over. "Nuff said"

im not god's gift to anything but my momma. poor woman.

simply saying jimbo carries very little weight with OOS recruits though tedford is probably the best offensive mind in football. Ahead of gimmick-Leach and Petrino by the respected coaches for sure.

ferentz is a sabanesque type in high demand by the NFL. defensive minded, focused and smart. hard-nosed and no-nonsense.

I know you followed Cal...more reason you should understand Tedford's true worth. This dude is top shelf my friend. from 1-10 to 10-1 at a berkeley school. you're informed enough to know how freaking hard it is to win 6 games at that strapped school (not just talking dildos either)--(financially/athletic)-wise and academically.

Ferentz may be jetting too soon so I dunno about him. If we could get 4 years out of him, I'd do it in a second.

I know tonight's showing has soured any optimism of LSU fans with Les Miles and i cant say i blame 'em but I sure as hell don't put a lot of weight into one game. Especially with all the distractions leading into it.

I'd prefer tedford for 5-8 years instead.

We have 8 damn seniors on this team.....thats nothing at all.....its ok to have a average class this year.....we need the right guy right now....we go out in 2005 win the nc like we are capable of and once again we will have a top 5 recruiting class.....its not that hard to see.

I actually agree with Ramah. Look at the candidates........

I think Jimbo is an average OC, but in my opinion he would make a damn good head coach. I've watched him coach, I believe he has it in him.

If Spurrier,J Johnson, DelRio or Davis don't come to BTR I would not waste my time with these guys on the current short list.

Again, I hope we land a big name........If not, I'll take Jimbo over the current list of clowns.

Not sold on Del Rio's recruiting ability ... unknown factor ... but you never know ... that could take care of itself if he were to coach LSU all the way to the top next year with Nick's talent ... Del Rio just had a kid graduate from LSU and his wife is from Lafayette ... so that's a plus for him

Out of the current list (See Dandydon's poll  ) ... I'd have to say Del Rio was the one Skipper & The Lunch Bunch would be eyeballing the closest

Don't drink the "Butch" Davis Kool-Aid :dis:

But that's one helluva mountain to climb with a new coach ... I'm still with ya'

No one knows much about Jimbo and the rest of the guys ... Saban kept them locked away from the media ... and threw away the key ... 5 years within a system and you'd have to believe even Forrest Gump would "larn a trik er two"

I think this lack of knowledge has soured fans on the promote from within idea

Besides, it remains to be seen ... How badly does Saban intend to rape LSU's current coaching staff ... and it's wealth of coaching the Saban Way ... but this is another story
