You aren't paying attention. National Security and traditional conservative American values.

There is no place for sound judgment in that little heart of yours?

I guess we have different definitions of "sound judgement".

If memory serves me right we went into Afghanistan before Iraq.
I believe OBL was already in Pakistan before the Iraq war started.
I guess there is no way to know for sure but it seems like you guys are assuming that he wasn't in Pakistan until after the Iraq war started.
I'm not saying I'm right, just saying that does anyone know this for sure?

Could it be that we actually know exactly where he is and could get him at any time? I'm not saying its so, just a theory. Could it be that its better to have him alive and get a better read on whats going on, then to have him dead and Lord knows how many of those camel jockeys trying to prove they are the next OBL? Where ya at Red? What say you Amigo?

That would certainly blow up the dems attacking the repubs for not getting those responsible for 9/11.
But as a Republican I don't buy it!

As a country we have always brought those responsible to justice.
Also there is no way a republican would lose this election if we had brought those responsible for 9/11 to justice.
The funny thing is maybe this will be an october surprise!

I don't think there will be any october surprise, its just something that has been kicked around. It really doesn't matter who is in the white house, the CIA will always play by their own rules and we will never know even the tip of the iceberg as to what they are up to.

Let him run free to cause more mayhem and embarras us with video taunts? Naaa. Bush would give a nut to get bin ladin and retrieve his reputation from the scrapheap. No, if we know where he is then we go get him. Question is ... do we kill him openly, kill him covertly, capture him openly, or capture him covertly? The Congress, the President, the military, and the CIA all have different agendas here and it gets complicated.

    • 1. Kill him openly--It makes him a martyr to his cause, but he can't hurt us. We defeat another enemy and beat our chests.
    • 2. Kill him covertly--He's dead and nobody ever knows what happened to him. He becomes a legend to his cause but can't hurt us. We defeat another enemy and smile smugly.
    • 3. Capture him openly--Put him on trial, execute him. Makes him a martyr to his cause but he can't hurt us. We defeat another enemy, justice prevails and God Bless America.
    • 4. Capture him covertly--He disappears and nobody ever knows what happened to him. He becomes a legend to his cause, but can't hurt us. We defeat another enemy, whistle nonchalantly, and keep him in a bunker with a couple a hard, pipe-hittin' niggas, who'll get medieval on his ass with a pair of pliers and a blow torch.

We can do any of those things. But letting him run free in Pakistan is letting the terrorists win.

    3. b. let some international body put him on trial, the hague, i guess. makes him less of a martyr, but the downside is no death penalty.

how about, capture him covertly, have the cia make an obl imposter that goes out to the world as a christian convert. shave his beard and make him a televangelist.
