Gorbachev ended the Cold War, Reagan continued to make nuclear weapons and wouldn't give up on his Star Wars fantasy. Reagan sucked, and what's sad, is today's Republican Party would toss him out on his ass for being too liberal. Obama sucks because he is too much like Reagan, neither are my boy.
Gorbachav was a fool whose only contribution was to continue to run the Soviet Union on the rocks and prove the communists were not ruthless enough to enforce the terror that kept them in power from Lenin on. All of Reagans efforts as president were to put pressure on the Soviet Union so they would collapse as they did. He understood that the US first needed to stand strong after the waste of the 70's and Carter's weakness as president. He needed to boost the economy, build the military and rebuild the confidence that the US was both strong and right. He did all magnificently. To compare Obama to Reagan is a supreme insult to Ron. It is sad but I agree with you todays Rs would stand for many of the same ideas Ronnie did and it is much poorer for it.
Crazy talk.........what branch of the govt do you work for? How much govt assistance do you get? I suspect you work for some sort of federal or state agency. Republicans aren't the answer but they don't think govt is free, that's nonsense. However the people in this country who think everything is free, they are entitled to everything, yet dont wanna work for it, don't contribute to society are not republicans....they tend to be democrats. my prosecution of the republicans wasn't meant as a defense of the democrats. that said, my original statement is truth: the republicans hallmark issue is spending cuts and they cannot even tell us what spending cuts they favor. Jesus Christ man, we just had a Presidential election and before that the Republican primaries. If ever there were ample opportunity for the republicans to tell us what needs to be cut, this should have been it but it wasn't. that makes them the bigger hypocrites right now
