Pancho's gone from Nicholson as is the Taco Bell on Highland. That area just north of campus has gone from bad to worse. I hated going to the Blockbuster on the corner of State and Highland cause of vagrants begging for change.

Pastimer, you don't have to spell out what happened a short time later. Especially if you had been drinking before you ate at Panchos. There was a Pancho's on Florida Blvd at least up until the 90's I ate there once about 1993 or 94. I don't know if its still there.

Tiger Dabbs, I went to that little Baptist college in your town for one semester between starting and finishing at LSU. Great place, fine people and sooooooo many rules to break! People there were paranoid about sneaking beer into their room (you could get expelled) and were floored when I told them that Hatcher Dorm had a university operated bar in its basement. Two completely different cultures.

Stop by our tailgate tomorrow and ask for LSU Bud or Uncle Gus, I'll treat you to some real food.....my pleasure.

On the Parade Grounds directly across from the Union. We have three white tents and a gold sign that says Bushwood SA&PC.

It only takes me about 30 minutes to get a batch of stuffed bell peppers ready for baking. I lot of people stuff the raw meat and vegetable mixture into the bell peppers and bake them like that but I start off just like I was making a spaghetti sauce and brown the meat along with the chopped onions, garlic and celery. When the meat is browned add some tomato sauce but not as much as if you were making spaghetti. Add some moistened bread crumbs and an egg or too and if you have it some seasoned Italian bread crumbs. Stuff the peppers and bake. I use a glass casserole dish but a pan covered with aluminum foil works just as good. If you put some tomato sauce and some Campbell's Tomato soup into the baking pan along with a little bit of water it will keep them from drying out while baking and the tomato sauce & soup mixture gives it some extra flavor. Bake them for about 45 minutes. You can use this time to surf the web, watch TV, study, play video games or have an intimate moment with your wife/girlfriend. A lot of ground meat is sold in packages of about 2 1/2 pounds. This will make from 12 to 16 peppers, depending upon the size of the peppers. If you freeze the ones you don't eat in containers that keep them free of freezer burn you can pop one in the microware any time you want. Bell peppers are sometimes outrageously expensive in most grocery stores but the Southside Fruit and Vegetable stand on Perkins Road usually has fresh ones for 4 for a buck. If you add up the cost of the same number of meals you get with the same number of meals you get at McDonalds, Burger King, Taco Bell and Popeyes you are way ahead.

Don't you love how this thread has worked its way from James Carville to a recipe for stuffed bell peppers? We are indeed an eclectic bunch. But now you have made me hungry, and I am in VIRGINIA, land of boiled beef! There are a few Popeye's up here, but the seasoning is much milder, diluted for Virginia tastes. HELP ME!

I hope its still there next to the tracks off Brightside. Man that Mama could cook. The coolest was that there was only one thing on the menu - whatever she felt like cooking that day. Shaqazoolu - You need to take your tight budget over there, you will not be dissapointed.
