The jury is still out Les but the verdict is in on jimbo. He's got to go. This guy is so predictable on offense it makes me want to vomit. I understand that the recievers had a bad game today. But from top to bottom, our offense is absolutly loaded with talent and we can only manage to sqeak by alot of games this year thanks to our great defense. To me and this is just my opinion, Its like pulling teeth to see LSU on offense this year knowing that they are better than this. There has got to be some OC out there that would love to come to LSU. Jimbo has got to go. Hes awful. Also this is just my opinion also, this offense should average around 40 points a game with the talent they have.:geauxtige What do yall think?
Jimbo has always been going to leave soon. He's just waiting for the right job to come open. He already turned down Miss State and Delaware. He's waiting for a school with an opportunity to win. And we'll miss him when he is gone. LSU has never had a better OC.
I thought Mac Brown was a pretty damn good OC under Stovall. Stovall and the Tigs won with Brown as OC, for 2 years as I recall, I think Risher was QB then. After Brown left to be head coach, at Appalachian St. as I recall, our team fizzled and the Stovall era came to an end. Brown did what he had to do. He wanted to be a head coach in a major conference, and he had to prove he could be a successful head coach first. He did it, then got the step up to Div. I at North Carolina. Success, then parlayed himself what he always really wanted, a top job like at Texas, where the state has lots of talent, and he can recruit his a$$ off, which he has done. Jimbo may want it all too fast. Mac earned his right to take the next step, at every level. Things have worked out fine for Mac, and I'm happy for him.
I seem to remember that early in the season, there were posts of "Jimbo for LSU HC". Now it's "Jimbo's gotta go". No comments, just an observations.
I watched the game and talked with an uncle ... calling every LSU offensive play correctly until Brazell's 1st Down 50 yard TD Strike midway into the second quarter ... It's like LSU lines up and shows the DC the play and dares you to stop them. Defenses tighten up, move into position and stop the play ... WHAM ... three and out ... Those predictable short passes (A GLORIFIED HANDOFF) over the left side have just got to stop on first down. That 50-yard vertical strike to Brazell for a TD had me screaming obscenities at the top of my lungs ... sad thing is ... watch the replay and you'll see open LSU receivers ... I know Flynn sees them on the sideline (under no pressure) ... prolly why he comes in and loads up on those long scoring strikes IF ... I SAY IF ... LSU coaching allows lame, sputtering, transparent, offensive play for almost 2 quarters like it has during the past two games, Georgia with a healthy Shocklet is gonna jump on LSU and get a big lead. Again, LSU should put Flynn in the game for a few series to throw vertical strikes. He's finding the open receivers and he'll help LSU score 1 or 2 TDs and win the game. LSU coaching plays a struggling JR for 60 minutes and we'll likely lose this game ... after all, much of the crew that stomped LSU 45-13 last year are back ... except for the Motor-running boy and D. Greene and a few others. LSU can jump on & stomp this team if it opens up the offense and throws deep strikes EARLY ... AND THAT AIN'T MIDWAY INTO THE 2ND QUARTER. LSU's running attack must move the FB against GA very well ... and that won't be done using those lame short passes over the left side ... Vertical Strikes ... for TDs ... get 'em on their heels ... THAT OPENS UP THE RUN! Prediction: LSU's offense will sputter as usual ... playing transparent, conservative FB with high % short passes (as Georgia expects) failing to throw deep, early strikes to keep the Ga defense honest. LSU will fall behind and lose a close game (hopefully they won't embarrass us again) ... 21-17.
One main problem I see is people's imaginary beliefs about our talent level. According to some, we have "All-World" receivers, the best set of running backs in the country, and AMAZING talent at QB. Well, what I see is receivers who can't catch, one good runningback with an ankle injury & then an okay one behind him, and a sophmore QB that still makes mistakes. So when you judge Jimbo based off of FALSE opinions of our talent, of course he's going to look worse than he really is. IMO, Jimbo is a very good & consistent OC, but he's not great. I'm happy with him staying. Too many Tiger fans think LSU is entitled to have someone great - we aren't. Very few great coaches exist. If "good" can win 9 of 10 games a season, then we should be happy.
