Anybody with a brain will attest to the fact that “testing kits” do NOT and cannot stop the spread of the disease. It only confirms infection after the fact. Trump was dang skippy in his assessment to quarantine the infected on the second cruse ship, as keeping the infection isolated is the ONLY way to stop its spread.

This stupid article makes it all about Trump, and dismisses what he says. Yes he wants to keep the numbers as low as possible .... by preventing the spread of disease. That is not about Trumps legacy, that is about protecting the population. And his approach has done a pretty good job. Save for 10 deaths in a nursing home in Seattle, the death rate for covid19 in the US is 1.8%, pretty much on par with Japan’s rate, which is considered the best healthcare in the world in a large population, as well as France rate (1.6%). Germany reports no deaths, but one has to raise an eyebrow at that wondering if that is a reporting error.

It does not escape me that Politico is a Left wing rag intent in making Trump look bad. That you would use this crap to make a point says more about you than it does Trump.

You all have obvious reading comprehension problems. Closing the borders was a passable first step. Problem is his follow up has been lacking. He like you all is in denial about the reality of the situation.
As you will see the virus is out and we’re seeing community transmission. What Trump has done by denying reality is that we don’t have the testing capability of S Korea. Watch how this plays out.

Adam Kucharski, who studies the math behind outbreaks for the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, recently talked to The Times about how people should look at the coronavirus data.
One signal Dr. Kucharski looks for is when the first case in an area is a death: “That suggests you had a lot of community transmission already,” he said.
“Suppose the fatality rate for cases is about 1 percent, which is plausible,” he explained. “If you’ve got a death, then that person probably became ill about three weeks ago. That means you probably had about 100 cases three weeks ago, in reality.”
“In that subsequent three weeks,” he added, “that number could well have doubled, then doubled, then doubled again. So you’re currently looking at 500 cases, maybe 1,000 cases.”

When considering the fatality rate, Dr. Kucharski suggested people pay attention to the variable risk level for different age groups, particularly people in their 70s and 80s.
“Over all, we’re seeing maybe 1 percent of symptomatic cases are fatal across all ages,” he said. “What’s also important is that 1 percent isn’t evenly distributed. In younger groups, we’re talking perhaps 0.1 percent, which means that when you get into the older groups, you’re potentially talking about 5 percent, 10 percent of cases being fatal.”

 

This was never going to be contained because we were never going to quarantine the entire country. This isn't China.

Of course it is the elderly and frail that are at the greatest risk. This is not new. It’s the same for the Flu. That is why it is so important for the elderly and frail to get a stinking Flu Shot. It’s for this reason that the COVID19 is nothing special and does not warrant the hype it is receiving. And it’s not just age. Urban dwellers are at greater risk due to the close proximity. Healthy lifestyle is a factor as well. People who are health freaks (like yours truly) are going to fair better, because they take their Vitamin C (stimulates interferon which is antiviral), their Vitamin D (a major Vitamin involved in the immune response), Minerals (selenium, zinc, etc), and they tend to engage in protective behavior like avoiding crowds and hygiene. Not saying they are immune, but they will fair better.
