had been a registered democrat since 1972, I was one of the initial 18 year olds that could vote,.. but I dumped them, they certainly don't represent me, and their horrible abortion platform is too much for me to bear,.. I won't be able to vote in the primaries as a registered independent.
At one time Louisiana had primaries for both Republican and Democrats and if you were a registered Republican you couldn't vote in the Demo primary and vice versa. The Republican party was weak at that time and whoever won the Dem primary was going to be elected governor by a very large margin. Most conservatives registered as democrats in order to vote for the most conservative Demo. Now the primaries are open and you can vote no matter what your registration.
that's our situation now, and like I said independents can't vote in the primaries period,.. Oregon is behind the times in that regard, our law needs to be changed
