I suppose since little ronny can't live up to his namesake, he'll just spend his life puffing out his little chest and try to tear it down!! What a pathetic little loser, and disappointment to the memory of his dad!!
Well, I made it through the first 20 minutes or so of John "Rambo" Kerry's speech last night. I was forced to turn my head when the video of him was shown, because after reading about the re-enacted war footage shown in it and hearing everyone bragging about his 3 Purple Hearts, I couldn't help but think about my grandfather, who, like thousands of others served our country in WW II in North Africa and eventually on the beaches of Normandy, and from there on into Nazi Germany. Although I was always fascinated by history, particularly WW II history, I could never get him to talk about his service to our country. I couldn't understand in my younger days why he would always change the subject if I brought it up, but age has brought me the wisdom and ability needed to understand his reasons. My grandmother told me the story of how after he returned home from the war that for two years every time he heard a plane fly over, day or night, he would go outside, because he had to be sure it wasn't a German bomber flying overhead. He died in 1991, but fortunately was able to live his life perfectly fine mentally and physically, for which I am thankful. He was and still is the most influential person in my life and he taught me that true heroes don't brag and don't use their exploits for any type of gain. They do their duty and move on. I also thought about my best friend Matt, who left his wife and 2 year old son and is in Iraq at this moment. He was able to come home for two weeks a couple of months ago, and although we did talk some about what was going on over there, he didn't really say much and he never bragged or boasted about anything. He is not over there because he wants to be president one day, he, like thousands of others, is there because he was called and is willing to fulfill his obligation to our country. And once that obligation is fulfilled, he can't wait to simply come back home to his family and resume his everday, boring, simple life. John Kerry scares me because, as I believe facts have proven, he was willing to go to Vietnam and risk his life not because of a feeling of duty or obligation, but because he was seeking to launch a political career that would eventually land him a spot in the White House. That, folks, frightens me. I don't understand how someone that young could desire power so much at that stage of life and be willing to risk everything to obtain it. Not only was his life in jeapordy, he also endangered the lives of the men he was supposed to be leading by returning them to hostile areas to re-create battle scenes for his "home movies". If anyone questions this, I posted an article previously which quotes the man who took over the boat Kerry commanded who backs this up. I don't know how many of you have seen the cover of his book, but it mocks the photo which depicts Marines hoisting the flag at Iwo Jimo. He not only mocked Vietnam Vets, but WWII Vets, including both my grandfathers, as well. http://www.nojohnkerry.org/kerryhtml/censored.htm I have ranted and raved enough, but this man sickens me. He is no hero, he is simply a politician who has been manufactured by himself from his days in Vietnam until now. He beieves it is his "destiny" to be president. How frightening is that? :usaflagwa
Back to the stem cell and abortion arguements. We had a speaker visit our school when I was in high school. She was a rape baby. Her mother decided to go through w/ the pregnancy and give her up for adoption instead of abortion. She helped me realize that if u get raped, or simply you don't want the baby, it is not that baby's fault. I don't think we should have any say so on who we believe should have a chance for life or not. The stem cell research; it sounds like a good idea, but then if u look at it from the other side; you are forming a life, taking part of that life away, then destroying the rest of it. A lot like abortion. I dont know, that is a very difficult topic. Being that Im a 21 year old catholic woman, might influence my opinions. :usaflagwa :911: :usaflagwa BUSH/CHENEY '04 :usaflagwa
I wouldn't vote for Kerry, because of the fear of him dropping dead and us being stuck with little Johnny Boy. He was sweating like he had just ran 10 miles, he's orange. I thought he was gonna pass out right there. He had a pretty good delivery, almost passionate. Not his usual boring, monotone ways. He spoke too fast, though. The content however... He had the usual socialist programs and the poor me sob stories of the little kids with "hair pollution". He ripped off Bush/Cheney quotes and their platform on defense. The best part was his "judge me on my record" crap, after he totally ignored everything that he did from Vietnam to today. I hope he knows his Senate voting record is public knowledge. John "War Hawk" Kerry voted against military raises, equipment, the first Gulf War, new weapons, cut intelligence, etc. Like marcmc99 said his concentration on Vietnam is shameful. Spending 4 months in Vietnam does not make one equipped to be Commander-In-Cheif. His message to Bush about being "positive" after calling him a liar and insulting half his Cabinet was rich. I guess giving facts on the voting record he is hiding in considered negative. Universal health care (costing 1 trillion dollars), bigger military, after school programs, doing away with "hair pollution", new fire stations (someone should tell him that is a local matter). He said no to privatizing Social Security, well that is comforting to a 20 year old, except not. I can't even begin to think of how much money this will cost. Yet he will cut taxes for the middle class and raise taxes for people that make over $200,000. That's gonna be a lot of raising, wouldn't be long until half those people are under $200,000. I guess that's the idea? One big middle class, sounds like communism. He delivered to the moderates, but I doubt many watched or are that gullible. We'll see how strong the "Anyone But Bush" crowd is, since I'm sure the liberals were none to happy with his hawkish words. Nader had a good night. Anyone that quotes Ron "Tutu" Reagan has no reason being President. Haven't the Democrats been saying Bush shouldn't use 9/11 or Reagan's death in their campaign? It's ok for them I guess.
It's somewhat similar to the blind, ruthless ambition exhibited by another young man of Kerry's generation...a young man who at age 23, wrote a letter to the director of his university's ROTC program asking for a change in draft status in order to enter the program, stating his "loathing of the military", yet his willingness to participate in ROTC "in order to maintain his political viability ". True to this young man's character (or lack thereof), he never even showed up for ROTC classes after being granted the requested change in draft status. The young man in question? The one who knew way back in 1969 that he needed some kind of military ass-cover to protect his future political career? Why, of course...none other than William Jefferson Clinton.
apparently this guy obama is the new democratic political star. i missed his speech but nobody will shut up about it. "may be the first black president someday" they say. when people say things like this i like to taunt them and remind them that i read he is half white. and when halle berry went nuts about her being black and winning an oscar, she said she had "opened the door" for other black people. i wanted to ask her if she had actually just opened the door halfway for blacks or if she had really only opened the door all the way for half whites like herself. i guess half black, half white people always are considered black. i wonder what % white will make them be considered white.
I saw parts of his speech. He is very good. I like Harold Ford Jr more than him, when I ignore his family and their past in Memphis. I don't see Obama being the "first black President", for one his name is one letter short of Osama and America isn't ready for that  And I've always thought the "first black President" would have to be a Republican to win. I'm still holding out for JC Watts.
yes, thats smart thinking. the first black president will definitely have to be republican. i read obama's speech and he seems like he must be a stirring speaker, but he puts a little too much of the responsibility for america on the government's shoulders.
