I don't have a problem with a TV network being slanted. I have a problem when they call themselves "fair and balanced" yada yada yada and have that memo leak. Don't call yourself a reputible new organization and be doing that stuff internally. If some memo surfaced from CNN saying ok today lets bash the republicans and bring up irrelevant information about bush/gop I would be pissed. Fox News is doing a disservice to credible journalism.

It's no different than NBC news hiring William Arkin as a military expert, a known leftwing nut and antiwar writer. Or CBS and Dan Rather's blatant attempt to use any means necessary to bring Bush down before the '04 election.

Credible journalism left the buidling years ago. It's more tabloid journalism these days. Fox caters to their audience just like the other networks. It just happens to be a different audience.

Excellent point, this is what most people in this thread don't understand or ignore.
I love it how they bash Fox while ignoring or favoring the usual liberal bias at the other tv networks.

It's impossible to not lean one way. It's human nature. The problem is Fox completely falls down to the right.

And another problem is that _________ fill in the blank tv networks claim to
be center, non-bias and are totally to the left.
    Bet you can't top that!

How bout that new college hoops 2k7 thread!:thumb:

lol....im on mlb 2k7 now....i'll get around to hoops after I finish a season of baseball and ncaa/madden....

But what proof do you have that cnn, msnbc etc are totally to the left. I was watching earlier yesterday and they had a republican guy on talking about how the republicans were going to do good in 08. I provided the memo from the Fox exec to the lowers and all one of you guys have is that UCLA study which lists Fox as being the closest to the center. There are many flaws in that study outlined in many papers written in response to that study. Just from watching a tad bit of all it does seem Fox drifts way more to the right than CNN, NBC, MSNBC do to the left.

Show me any network that claims to be non-biased and centrist except for FOX News, "fair and balanced".

I don't remember doing that, but it doesn't seem surprising.

NPR is the only place I get my news from. I simply cannot stand the barrage of theatrics and self-absorbed pricks that all network news outlets are composed of. NPR is very straightforward, and not in-your-face at all. Plus, they do a lot of very interesting reports and interviews. And it's the only place where I've seen opposing sides get equal treatment.
I have a different theory. Of all the network news outlets, Fox is by far the most sensationalizing and over-dramatic. Network news has become entertainment, and Fox leads the way in that regard. Yes, I'm taking a potshot at the intelligence of the general public with that one, but not necessarily everyone that watches Fox. But, you know how sex & violence sell (and explosions)? Network news has caught onto that, and incorporated similar tactics.

I tend to agree. Rupert Murdoch owns FOX and he made his fortune in the tabloids. Sensationalism and drama is his game.

How about the Today show and other news shows on the liberal networks.
    CBS, NBC, ABC, MSNBC.
They all have examples of exaggerations and I would agree that Fox does
    have some of that drama.
Geraldo and Sheppard Smith come to mind during Katrina.
I'll give you another example that you can't blame on fox.
That would be the reporter reporting about the floods in the northeast from a
canoe about the time 2 guys walked by in knee deep water.
I know you NPR people give them a pass like you do for all liberal tv outlets.
Tolerant of others but intolerance of Fox News.
I don't have to name names you know who you are!
