at DFW last year had a delay due to a flat tire...took 45 min to change it... is that good or not, serious question. is a airplane tire a complex puzzle to solve or is it like a passenger car tire?
That actual is about right for a crew of 2, 45 mins to an hour. It is like changing a tire on a car, but more safety measures and checks are in place... and specialized tools. If you ever see someone working near the landing gear in something like a hazmat suit, it is likely a hydraulic leak and the "hazmat gear" is to protect the worker from getting sawed in half from the hydraulic fluid that is under such force it is almost like a laser. I was on a Northwest flight years ago to Gatwick from Detroit and the nose cone had a hole in it from a lighting strike. They told us they had to change out navigation cards (Big Lie). The truck with the new nose cone broke down and Northworst sent a truck to fix the truck. Only delayed about 3-4 hours.
I’ve rarely had issues with Delta over the past few years. But the problems I have had stemmed from fucking Atlanta. It’s also not fun getting on the pringles can with wings that fly out of AEX.
Always had a airport - used to be Esler Field but when air base left, they moved it to the old airbase
