1. maybe he said he bet his mortgage on Okie State tonight.

    heh one can only hope.

as much as i want tedford, del rio really gets my blood going. not sure why, i dont know a ton about this guy but he sounds great thus far.
  2. Posturing already. That's gotta be a good sign, right?
  3. I'll add Tubbs to that too.

  4. yeah, prolly for his contract negotiations but I like the fact he didn't deny it. that may not be great news but its definitely not bad.

  5. tubbs and nutt were part of the saban/sexton game. nothing more.

played LSU again. so clear we never had a shot at this guy last week its funny.
  6. One thing that seperates the two in my eyes is if Del Rio came, he would have left the NFL for this job. Tedford may be the opposite, heading to the NFL shortly. But the threat of the NFL only really bothers me if it is Ferentz or Tedford as I think their departure is more eminent. I would take another great 5 years from someone in a heartbeat.
I also like Del Rio's youth and his track record on defense is stupid good. I also think Del Rio's name is about as big as they come.

"So Ryan P, I hear you may be interested in coming to LSU. Well I coached a guy by the name of Byron Leftwich last year and I know what it takes to get a QB ready for the big time."
Nah - that would never work.
  7. Has a successful NFL coach ever left for a college coaching position... key word is successful?

  8. yeah i know the NFL part is the kicker for me though I dont think tedford jets anytime soon. I dont think his value is there just yet. 5 years sounds good to me. ferentz is another story.
  9. I'm very excited about our short list.

Times Picayune reported on Monday that the short list was Petrino, Del Rio, Robiskie, and Miles.

I would think the blowout loss less than a week before the LSU coach is announced might hurt Miles' stock a little whether it should or not.

Petrino - incredible record as a head coach; incredible offense; former SEC and NFL coordinator.

Del Rio - current NFL head coach; young; inherited the worst ranked defense and made it second best in the NFL in one season as defensive coordinator; Ravens' linebackers coach and we know the Ravens had the best LB corps in the NFL at the time

    Robiskie -
    Coaching Background:
1982-84 Los Angeles Raiders, assistant running backs coach
1985-87 Los Angeles Raiders, assistant special teams coach
1988 Los Angeles Raiders, tight ends coach
1989-93 Los Angeles Raiders, offensive coordinator
1994-2000 Washington Redskins, assistant coach/head coach (three games in 2000)
2001-03 Cleveland Browns, wide receivers coach
2004 Cleveland Browns, offensive coordinator/head coach

Born and raised in Louisiana. Robiskie was a four-year letter winner and the 1976 SEC MVP as a senior at LSU.
  10. I hate to say it but "I am sold on Del Rio"... my second choice would be Petrino at this point... I dont put much stock in Robiskie or Miles though.
