I prefer to mock your childish ridicule, scorn and jeering of things you disagree with, or worse, don't have a clue about. You were the kid we all avoided on the schoolyard. It's why you got your ass whipped and your lunch money stolen, got picked last on every team, and had an imaginary girlfriend. But Jesus loves you.
to each his own. metering out a nice mocking is good fun. i think this would have a chance of being accurate, were i to be the sort of dude that took the mocking out to other forums, and was jeering folks as they tried to talk about football. but this is free speech alley, amigo. (and for the record i get picked first for all sports teams)
OK. I get it. I'm gonna leave this alone after this post. I was raised in a southern Baptist home. Some of the most humble, hardworking, smart, and decent people I've ever met were from my church. Harding Street Baptist chuch in Baker, La. The pastor there when I was young, I actually greatly admired. His name was Don Thomas. He died a few years ago of cancer. Also making a home in this church were some people that I would NEVER in my life be associated with as an adult. None of these facts change my religious beliefs. My belief is: I DON'T KNOW. I also know that alot of baptists will tell you that Jesus will "come into your heart" when you invite him. When you do, you'll know by the feeling. Well, so far I've found this just isn't so. Only time I "get the feeling" is when the Allman Brothers come to town and I get to hear them play. Fact. I was taught alot of things as a kid. Racism was one. When integration happened, it was very traumatic. I went to school in Pride (1st through 12th) in the same buildings. All the black and white parents incited a bloody riot between a bunch of innocent children. Why? Because the parents children taught them the same bs belief in racism with no basis in fact other than they said we were better than the black kids. That's just ONE wrong thing taught to children by their parents who were taught by their parents........etc So,,,,as an adult, I try to look at facts and reality and figure the rest out for myself. Religion is one of them. No facts, plenty of reality. Crap in one hand, pray in the other.......well you know what I'm getting at. Religion has been responsible for some of the worst behavior in people of all races and backgrounds and is still the number one reason people are killed worldwide. Sorry, I choose to treat everyone according to their character (and that's a quote from a very religious man). So again, I choose to live my life according to fact, not as per a group of people who worship an invisible entity up in the sky. This is an open forum where ideas are shared. I don't hate you if you believe in the invisible guy in the sky or you only believe in facts. It's your choice.
Religion in general is not about a search for fact. Its about a search for truth, hope, and meaning in life. Facts, by definition can be proven, whereas religion is about the belief that there is more to life than what we can see around us. From my point of view, I see a life without religion as a life without hope and purpose. What is the purpose of life if there is no afterlife? If life is nothing more than what we experience day by day, and then once you die then thats it, then whats the purpose behind anything? If thats the case, then I see humanity as just one giant cosmic accident. I refuse to accept that there is nothing more to life that what I can experience with my 5 senses. But mostly, the reason I believe in Christ is because of the change that He has brought in my life. In Christ, I find hope, I find purpose, and I find peace. If everything about Christianity is a lie, there is no god and life really just happened by chance, then what have I lost? But, if Christianity is true, and Jesus Christ, the Son of God, came to earth to live a perfect life and the be crucified on a cross, buried, and raised again on the 3rd day, and all I have to do is believe this and confess that Jesus is Lord, then sign me up for that. I see it as having eternal life to gain and nothing to lose. The hope and purpose here on earth is just a bonus.
not a christian? who do you think you are? well, i dont think jesus will be happy to find out that you are not his team. yunno he died for your sins. seems pretty arrogant to deny him, when he gave his life for your sins. that was gods only begotton son! he cant make another!
so let me ask this, do the religious on this board, and i am by no way mocking any of you, think that god created man in his image, and has total control over everything that happens, and everything happens for a reason, or that maybe god did one thing like facilitate the big bang, and the everything else kind of spiraled out of control after that?
