Right. Salty would rather steal his opinions from an editorial than formulating them on his own. [In other words, just because someone stated it more eloquently than you, doesn't make it so. That person's opinion is just as worthless as Rex's as is mine]
Wrong. Nowhere has it ever been asserted that the Patriot Act would have prevented 9/11, nor does it seek to alleviate communication between the various incompetent enforcement agencies. Information sharing has always been a matter of pride and power with those guys, not something restricted by law.
It was in response to the idea of going over and reading liberal sites. We all gather information from different sources. I prefer ones that are not so biased. That is not stealing. If I was copy and paste a portion of an article over here and claim it to be mine, that would be stealing.
Ok, I wasn't accusing you of claiming that you had written that article, just to be clear. I was only accusing you of being an unoriginal jerk.:hihi: Further, all op/ed pieces are biased, even if they are from a site that claims not to be biased (despite the fact that such an animal does not exist).
He did not say it would have. He stated that it is there to help protect us from another Sep 11th. No one can say for sure if any action prior to 9/11 could have stopped it. Short of total lock down. Unfortunately, sometimes all that can be done is to react to situations. Furthermore, as someone who has family that work for different government organizations, I can tell you that prior to 9/11 there were laws that kept different departments from sharing information. Those laws have since been changed due in part to the PATRIOT Act and other changes in the structure of these organizations. How can you call them incompetent? Have we been attacked here again? Are there not almost weekly reports about people being caught and plans to attack us being avoided? I'd say that they are doing a fine job. My sense of safety as I fly all over the country is proof of that.
I can call them incompetent because it's been well-documented over the years that the centralized enforcement agencies have often had tremendous trouble getting out of each others way. In fact, there was a dude on O'Reilly one night that wrote a book in favor of abolishing the CIA because all they do is make things more difficult on other agencies, such as the FBI. Oddly enough, O'Reilly agreed with him. But I don't buy that bit about the legalities of information-sharing. Our government has historically done whatever is necessary to ensure national security, which is why drafting the Patriot Act seems unnecessary if it wasn't going to be used for other purposes.
I dont think Liberal acurately represents the ignorance of some people like REX. Your hate blinds your ability to reasonably think . You are incapable of looking at the big picture because you are still trying to figure out how to operate the camera. The world has some problems Rex and there are people who like to kill thousands at a time. Maybe we should just let them according to you because God forbid we try and stop them before hand. Dont worry Rex the President isnt trying to get wiretaps on you just because you are such an interesting person. Now if you threaten the security of this country then he just might. Hey Rex the sky is falling.
For me, the one gigantic thing that came out of those ridiculous 9/11 commission hearings was that the Clinton administration had a edict that walls would be built between all of the agencies....not allowing them to share information. That's why the data gained from Operation Able Danger was never used..there were artifical walls built between these orgs and it was a designed deal by the Clintonestas.......and trust me: the docs that Sandy Berger STOLE from the National Archives were those documents that related to Able Danger that was relayed to the Clinton White House but not acted on.
