Getting closer to saying fuck it. I guess I could let one of y'all deal with it. This place used to be great. It's not great anymore. So many of you say crap that you would never say in person. I'm not sure that I want to enable it anymore. Fucking assholes. Y'all just really know how to ruin a good thing. I'm going one of 2 ways. I'm gonna ban a lot of people, or shut it down. SMDH
I say drop the ban hammer and see how you like it then. That way you can live with tossing the grenade in.
I think in a lot of ways it is kind of like this, family. People will talk shit to brothers, cousins, and life long friends that they have been around forever. These back and fourths are not new guy bashing new guy. I don't see a lot of long time posters going after newbies either. In FSA, it is pretty much the same posters all day. You can tell everyone to knock it off, easy down a bit, and they will for a little while. But like a parent telling their kids to stop fighting in the back of the car, it will happen again. There is some respect between the long time posters. When CO was gone for a while, people were saying "where's CO?" When he comes back it is brother against brother again. LOL. I not saying people love each other like family, just that they a treated like family.
No matter what you post here (fact or opinion) you have to be ready to defend your stance, now feeling attacked at times. It’s not difficult to pinpoint when it started, circa Thanksgiving 2016. End of an era and start of another. It sucks because one post turns into a couple posters going back and forth throwing insults and derailing the entire thread/post. It’s slowly ran off a lot of the long time posters who brought great insight to the board. I miss those folks. I find myself hesitant to respond at times and even deleting post. Most of the time, I have to have a couple drinks in me to even engage (mainly in game threads). The board has always been opinionated and full of both negatigers and sunshine pumpers. I’ve been both at times. Which it should be, keeps it interesting. I’ll do my part to keep it civil and on topic.
Honestly, @KyleK, I do thank you for whatever goes on behind the scenes to keep this place afloat. Wish you would post more, although it’s possible I’m just not on the right sub-boards. I support your ultimate decision either way, but I’d rather see people banned than this place shut down. This place vastly increased my enjoyment of 2019; the game threads were so much fun. I’d hate to see it go due to a number of bad apples, but I’m not pulling the strings here, so it’s not my call. Also, if I’m forced to spend anymore time on Tigerdroppings, I may check into a psych ward
I get that many of you are long time posters. I get that the attacks don't bother you as you are used to it. However, look how many people, just in this thread, have commented about how they rarely post anymore because of the attacks. Think about how this board looks to potential newcomers. You can have disagreements without being a jerk. People in general have gotten so rude on the internet. It would be nice if this place could be above the fray.
I also agree with @CajunlostinCali. Start with the ban hammer and see if it adjust course in the right direction. Really don't want a few bad apples ruin the whole bunch. I do notice those "bad apples" have ignored this thread and kept posting to other ones. I'm here to post and learn from others who know more than me. Always looking to educate myself. Not looking for a beatdown. I get enough of that at work.
