I know there are a lot of religious people who say that we shouldn't use the death penalty .Most cite the commandment of "thou shalt not kill". That commandmant should read thou shalt not commit murder. There are about 10 different words that were all translated into the english word kill. The defintion for this particular "kill" is to lie in wait,or premeditate murder. The penalty for this act is death...execution...The execution is not for revenge. It serves two purposes. First, about 1/3 of the bible is an instruction book on how to live .The instructions are basically to" send them to me and these things will cease to happen among you." The second purpose is the murderer has a meeting to go to. I would like him to make that meeting has soon as possible. And as for anyone's comments about it not being a detriment.I agree .Why? we don't use it enough. An example,2002,03,04..over 16000 murders in this country in each of those years .How many executions did we have?10000? 5000?1000? ...No....less than 100. A whopping less than 100 out of more than 16000.That is a joke.
This is how I feel about my personal situation. I want Tirk and anybody else to do whatever they want to do to this pos! This guy has now pleaded no contest to his charges which kept the lawyer and family from going for the death penalty. We took what we could from it and wont complain. I agree with this. My situation was one that I was more of a witness leading up to the murder. The evidence was overwhleming with DNA, fingerprints, etc.
Premeditated murder is like declaring war on someone and society. I have never got beyond the idea that if someone is seeking to annihilate me and\or mine, submission is the BEST they can hope for. If the opportunity presents itself, I would worry no more about the perpetrator. We can now progress to the torture thread in case they are lucky enough to achieve submission..... http://tigerforums.com/showthread.php?t=70650
....if you are jewish. all that hebrew bible stuff went out with jesus (most just dont play along). too many people like the nice little package of the 10 commandments.
I have a couple problems with today's death penalty used in America - mainly, it actually costs more to give inmates the death penalty than to keep them in prison for life due the mandatory appeal & long court process. Also, I don't think it decreases the crime rate at all - and I'm sure this could be proved based on the states that do not allow vs those that do. Basically, I agree with Red. I have no problem with it but if we're going to do it it should be more efficient. I certainly don't see anything cruel or inhumane about the death penalty.
i think we should compete with the Chinese for manufacturing jobs by using prisoners as a workforce. do they still make license plates at angola?
