1. Man, I'm not trying to be negative....but it's looking like this may be the beginning of the end of an era for the Saints.

The sky ain't falling yet....but I think that this thing is beginning to take a turn for the worse.

Saints are in the headlines for all the wrong reasons.

Again...not trying to be negative. I'm a Saints fan until the day that I die. It just seems like our little run may be headed in the wrong direction. I hope I'm wrong.
  2. I was hoping we'd have at least 3 more years of championship-caliber football with at lest one more Super Bowl victory to go with the 3 three straight years of championship level football we just had

I still think we are in great shape for my hopes to come true, but I still have to wait and see what our roster is going to look like next season and what the penalty for our bounty scandal is going to be

remember, the Patriots made it through a scandal just fine

as for the negotiations with Brees and all the other players we want, I hope we get them all to sign with us for as little salary as possible so we have more money to work with keeping our team stacked with players that will keep us competing for Super Bowls

I wish Brees would have agreed to our salary offer so we could have the francise tag open for someone else (assuming we would have even had to use it on anybody), but I'm very glad to see the Saints aren't writing Brees and his aggressive agent a blank check

Brees knows he needs us as much as we need him. unless their is a champion-level team out there willing to pay Brees more than what we want to pay him, he'd be dumb to leave us for a team that doesn't give him the opportunity to compete for Super Bowls that we do.

on top of that, there isn't a team in the country that would give Brees the opportunity to put up mind-boggling stats like he can in Payton's offense

and Brees knows we were the only team that wanted him back when he was at the lowest point of his career...not to mention the special bond we have for him for going through Katrina with us, leading us to our only Super Bowl, etc...that is a special bond we have for him that money can't buy

finally, Brees knows the less money he agrees to, the greater the Saints will be, and the Saints being a greater team is more important to his Legacy than more millions in his pocket
  3. I agree with everything you said except that last paragraph. He is holding out to be paid 5 million more than Brady. That doesn't seem very "team" oriented to me.
  4. I agree with everything you just said. :hihi:

Money, money, money. That's all these motherphuckers care about. What the hell can you NOT accomplish with $23M a year that you can't do with $18M a year? It's phucking beyond me. All these guys are greedy sumbitches and Drew Brees is no different.

The future doesn't look too bright for the Saints, and that's too bad. We've all enjoyed the recent success of the team after all these years. Guess I'll have to get my paper bag ready. :hihi:

  8. A five-year, $100 million contract that includes a first-year take in 2012 of $40 million?

    A bargain...
