    Really?

He is much bigger than Johnson is. Like I said, he reminds of a Michael Clayton type reciever.

You may be looking at the wrong thing... He was not a 5 star last year.

He was a high 4-star last year. One of the 6.0 four-stars, meaning he wasn't far off of being a 5-star. I'm thrilled to have him. If he makes it to campus, he's probably our biggest WR recruit of the year unless Julio Jones surprises me and comes to LSU.

From what they say, he reminds me a lot of Dwayne Bowe (after Lasik). He's got an SEC body and tremendous body control. He's a guy who could step in immediately and be a contributor, growing into a serious player down the road.

Since he signed with LSU last year, he does not count toward the 2008 signing class does he?

Its kinda good that he went the Prep school route b/c that gives him more time to mature and he'll still have all years of eligbility plus redshirt if wanted.

CP, I noticed that too.. then this morning I checked our commit list on Rivals and Benton is no longer listed. Very strange? Really enjoy your posts, especially in regards to recruiting, by the way.

Mike said that Rivals doesn't want him listed as a commit until he gets his academics in order...

perhaps ... but ... I think he will eligible for the draft after his 2nd year at LSU (3 years after his highschool graduation) ... and ... if he's really good you are likely to see him gone to the NFL after his 3rd year at LSU, if not after his 2nd ... forget about redshirting ... the guy will likely not even be at LSU for 4 years
