That's not what I said, though. I said pulling a scholly from a LINEBACKER...and I was talking about the present, since it's NOW that we need LBers. Luther Davis didn't have his scholly pulled because he took a visit. He had his scholly pulled because he LIED about it.
NO LINEBACKER is bigger than LSU, no player is bigger than LSU...No one player makes this team.... Who do we "have" to have in this years class? What one player? What happens if he doesn't sign with us on signing day? We've seen this before, didn't seem to hurt then, why would it hurt now?
Many words are getting twisted on this thread. I don't think we should pull the offer from any player who said something so mild. I for one would hate to lose top players because they slipped up when talking to the press or even on their own social networks.
At the start of this season, people were worried about Special Teams, the DL being too small, WR, etc. Chavis handles the LB'ers, I wouldn't worry. We have played 81 players this year with around 65 players returning next year that have started/played in games. Of this group, 7 LB'ers have played(Counting W/O). Trevon Randle is taking a RS and could have played this year if needed. Six LB'ers this year that will be back for next year have stats in games, three returning have started games. Remember, Chief likes to more larger DB's to LB. I trust this staff to handle this just fine. We are 10-0, the #1 team in the nation and with the questions from the start of the season, have done just fine. Last years team we lost PP7, Nevis and Sheppard, thats a ton of talent to replace, looks like this staff handled this better than some of the fans. I trust this staff to sign the best players to help this team, right now, we are adding depth. Not many needs I can see. :tigereye:
Linebacker is a definte need in this class and the reason the staff has targeted so many. Way more than we have targeted in previous classes. Chavis will always make it work but he knows more than anyone he needs a bunch to work with. We have some athletes at the position but he wants to get he depth in place for future years.
We targeted a ton last year but never had a great shot given they were all OOS prospects. We had a few on the line but all settled closer to home and now we see him targeting even more to make up for last class. I have talked to some on the coaching staff about this very subject. They also knew then that we would actually have in-state talent this year which we haven't seen in many many years.
