They recently installed some kind of popup barrier at the State Capitol parking lot to prevent a car from following another into the lot without paying. One of the state legislators was close behind another car on the first day it was installed and when he followed the other car in the barrier popped up underneath his car. His car was severely damaged and he was injured.
When I was an ensign on my first ship. I had to accompany the ASW officer down into the sonar dome . For you non navy types that is the big bulbous thing at the bottom of the bow. The dome is normally flooded but it had been pumped out for maintenance our inspection. We crawl down this 35 foot ladder in a very tight tube down to the dome.
