Okay, I don't want to throw any more fuel onto the Steve Spurrier to LSU fire...aw, hell, of course I do! From Lee Corso's Gameday chat earlier this week: http://www.collegefootballgameday.com/QACorso.aspx C'mon, Steve, we're sorry we turned you down once. We won't do it again. Promise! :hihi: PS- That'd be a nice poke in the eye back at WH, who is a big Florida Gator booster, from what I've read.
"Blockbuster" in my mind constitutes someone who had great success at the collegiate and professional levels.... I'll be really interested to see the Fox NFL Pre-Game show this Sunday and see if there are any subtle hints dropped... My guess is Jimmy Johnson as a :lsug: :tigerhead .
From today's T-P: PHP: "... When asked specifically if he is interested, Del Rio said, "I told you I'm continuing to work on preparing this football team to play the (Oakland) Raiders." Del Rio's agent, Gary O'Hagan, said neither he nor Del Rio had been contacted by LSU and declined further comment. But several LSU sources maintain that the school is excited to speak with Del Rio and to find out how serious he is about leaving the Jaguars. Del Rio is a former Saints player and assistant coach. His wife is from Lafayette, and his stepdaughter recently graduated from LSU. Del Rio is in the second year of a five-year contract that pays him between $1.1 and $1.5 million per year. " Jack's been my #1 option since I first heard him mentioned as a possible choice. Nice to see some "LSU sources" are as excited as we are over this possibility. :thumb:
Jimmy Johnson is the most logical choice. He's not that old. And this might be how he wants to end his career, in a blaze of glory with 2 more NCs at LSU!
Guys, I did a quick search on "Jimmy Johnson return to coaching" and any and everything I've seen over the past two years indicates zero, nothing, nada. Take this quote from when his name popped up in College Station chatter two years ago: Dude's got such a sweet, sweet setup in South Florida right now, I can't see why he'd consider doing this again.
No that's not the one...It's that Saban fella...the new Head Coach over there. I'm thinking he would be interested. Maybe that is the "super secret interview" he is talking about.
