Not really, I happen to be a horrible Christian. After thinking about my previous post, I really have to admit that I don't know what Randy himself is thinking. So my apologies go to him. However, Most politically correct people who love to emphasize the "correcting" of others are characterized accurately by my previous post. Steve
But now your going to offend all the big green people...:hihi::hihi::hihi: Get over it, Shaq wasn't offended by it. Your statement that of a lot of other people being offended besides yourself seems to be inaccurate judging by the responses in this thread, at least for the audience here. You have one person siding with you. Obviously there are quite a few people in here who don't exactly adhere to being PC. I don't understand why anyone is expected to have to know if the hundreds, thousands, or possibly millions of people who might hear something they say could be offended then they should not say what they are thinking. Are we all supposed to be mind readers?
Being politically correct depends on where you live geographically on a global basis and at what period of history you are in. Society's view of what is right and wrong is constantly evolving. The people who are concerned most with being politically correct are politicians. That should tell you something right there--the most egocentric, hypocritical group on the planet base their decisions on political correctness. To always be politically correct is to follow blindly. Try being an independent thinker instead and decide for yourself what is right and wrong. Stop being afraid that you may sometimes be in the minority because of your views. Grow a pair!--get some Lesticles! Oh I hope that didn't offend anyone!
It appears that you are the only one attributing simian qualities to Shaq here. To me, Daddy Dale says Shaq and King Kong are big, strong and mean. To you he's saying Shaq looks like a monkey. Look inward, young man.
If people weren't so frickin' thin skinned, this country wouldn't be in bad shape. The economy would be better, kids wouldn't be so fat, people would learn to laugh at themselves, etc. But no, you can't compare a really big black man to a really big ape. Funny thing is when I heard the comment, race didn't come to mind at all. Only until randy70 brought it up, did I ever thing that Shaq not only share characteristics of king kong, (big, fierce, love for white women, etc) but they also have the same skin pigmentation. so, who's worse, the guy who always thinks about what offends a race of people, or a guy who speaks from his heart about the characteristics of a human being.
Well, linking/comparing Shaq to King Kong clearly went beyond the size comparisons and did not require mind reading to figure out the connection. Anyone here who is toying with this issue and playing like they don't get what Randy is talking about, is playing semantic games. I do not know any of you, or the color of your skin, but I would venture to say that over 90% of the responders to this thread are white and would not really empathize with the comparison. Having said that, I agree that if Shaq is not offended then the issue should just drop. But to say, you don't get how the comparison would be inappropriate is either being calloused, you can't empathize b/c you have no real comparison, or you are simply exhibiting frustrations about PC attitudes b/c of all of the above.
