The only thing I can come up with is that you feel like it was racist to call him King Kong. Is that what you're getting at? If so, you're way off.

If someone other than Dale Brown would have said it they would have been criticized. Someone like... say Don Imus?

Can we still say "White Out"? Is it okay to say "Blackboard"? Do I offend someone if I say "Flipchart"? Are women offended if I say "Broad Scope"? What did the Beatles really mean by "Yellow Submarine"?

All polical correctness is doing is dividing people more. Damn...the PC'ers should grow up and stop looking for trouble. I'm offended that they're offended!

Oh...by the way...if you attempt to not offend someone by remaining silent, then you're offending them by not speaking with them.

You can see where this is leading. No matter what you do, someone is offended. You have to love this woe-is-me society.

A faux pas means an unintended social blunder. If you review my post, I said that I'm sure Dale loves Shaq like a son. I know he's not a racist and he didn't intend to offend. Shaq may not take offense to the remark. However Dale did make a social blunder. When you speak in public you need to be careful with your words. I would guess that a lot of people would take offense to that type of remark.

If our current BB coach said it no one would think twice about it would they? Flashback to the footage of Howard Cosell now, "Look at that little monkey run!!"

But Shaq does look like King Kong. King Kong was fairly black and pretty much a giant. Just an FYI... I know King Kong has been out of the media glare for a while. Some might not be familiar with his physical attributes.

I just don't see it, Randy. Is King Kong an insult to giant apes? Is Bambi an insult to cute deers? Where is the faux pas here?

King Kong = Rather large, powerful, cabable of destroying sh!t
Shaq = Rather large, powerful, cabable of destroying sh!t

    sounds pretty accurate to me
what other analogy would you use?
