JaMarcus Russell was a 5-star. The process for evaluating and rating players is not an exact science. Success in high school is not necessarily an indicator for success in college, and certainly not for the NFL.

The high school field isn't the same as the college field and the college practice field isn't the same as the college game field. It's easy to impress when you're not under duress.

Unfortunately, we ended up in a position of "pick your poison" at QB and I think a lot of that had to do with them sitting under Crowton for all but their senior year. I wish both guys the best but I'm glad they are gone.

I'm believing Kragthorpe will get the best out of the QBs we have. Will it be perfect? -- absolutely not. Even Andrew Luck had a couple of bad games in his senior season.

Alleva seems to have the personality to do this.

The 2 best examples of why you should never really put too much stock in the star rating system that I can think of are Al Woods, and Jai Eugene. Both 5 stars, both never even coming close to living up to that potential.

That is what I said. That I saw him play in high school and he wasn't a SEC qb. You would have to go back and read the whole thread.

While I'll agree that changes should have been attempted on the 9th, no one was complaining when we beat all comers on our scheudle by an average of 26 pts a game and went 13-0. This was done with a very limited passing game (68% runs), and were successful when we had protection for Lee. Again, the problem on the 9th was the OL. Drew Brees would not have had a good day with that protection. Now we have speculated on the reason for the failure of the OL. I have heard another rumor that has not appeared on this board from a reliable source too. I will not divulge it because of the negative pub it would generate. I hope it is not true. But either way it shakes out, what happened on the 9th is over and done with. The feelings of departed seniors will hopefully have an impact going forward leading to a little more imagination on offense. But no way do I want an Okie. St. offense. I would prefer 60/40 run based offense.

    Jordan Jefferson - Yahoo! Sports

Please tell me where does it say that bama tried to recruit JJ.
    COLLEGE CHOICES
School Interest Offer Visit Recruited by
LSU COMMITTED (11/10/2007) Offered 01/18/2008 Larry Porter
    Arizona None None
    Arkansas None None
    Auburn None None
    Georgia Tech None None
    Stanford None None

also under JJ commits in this forum and maybe someone can clear this up because I will be the first to admit I don't care if they commit or not. They can leave if they want to (enter Keil)

So did he just go visit bama and Saban did not bother to offer him a scholarship. I can see that.

JJ was not highly recruited. He was considered to be an average to good QB that would be serviceable with potential upside. Obviously that never happened.

Ryan P. couldn't stay in good graces and was cut. J. Lee was thrown to the wolves without the benefit of time or good QB coaching. He also has happy, happy feet and isn't tough and hates to get hit. JJ was brought in because of his nightmare pick-6 season. The rest is history.

Not according to Rachellsu and Stacey who have him as a 4 star qb and trying to tell me Saban wanted him. If Saban wanted him Saban would have offered him a scholarship.

He should have gone to Ole miss.
