that's life for you. you can always look back at the decisions you made and wonder what could have been had you chose differently. look at the #1 ranked TE recruit in the 2007 class, Aron White (he was rated higher than both Rob Gronkowski and Aaron Hernandez in the same class). he went to Georgia and played in all 14 games this year (his senior year), but only had 9 receptions for 101 yards this season (Peterson had 18 receptions for 179 yards this season and, for his career Peterson had more receptions in 49 games at LSU than White got in 50 games at Georgia)

Coach Miles said it best when he laid out his gameplan: "this is big boy football." But it was the same plan he had for everyone else too, once JJ was back on the team. The biggest difference being that coach Saban decided to let AJ play quarterback this time. Frankly, Miles stopped using Lee after the second interception in Tuscaloosa. Many a thread in TigerLand has voiced that. The super-dome was just more of the same. LSU was not going to out-physical Bama. Too big and Too strong.

Absaloutley right......which is why Les's gameplan played right into the stregnth of Alabama......Instead of spreading the field out with 3 recievers and opening up lanes and making bama cover the entire field, he allowed bama to play within 7 yards of the line of scrimmage ...which is Alabama's strong point.......bama was and is not THAT much better than LSU les's gameplan just made it look like they were. Any coach in America can tell you that you do not play to a teams stregnth....you exploit their weakness.......Les was just to hard headed and determined to stay with his gameplan......which was obviously bad.....make adjustments and get yourself back in the game.

what's interesting is that the Times Picayune did an in-depth film study of the game (like they've done for all the games this year), and wrote:

"The Tigers also went away from their formation tendencies and played a lot of three and four wide receiver sets, realizing they were going to have trouble running the ball and wanting to spread Alabama out defensively. Of the 44 plays, LSU used three wides or more 26 times. But there was no inside running game and Alabama totally shut down the option runs, which were successful the first time around."

"LSU did make some offensive adjustments. It tried very hard to get TE DeAngelo Peterson involved in the passing game as a wide receiver. He played a season-high 38 snaps but caught one ball and was targeted twice."

"On second-and-8 from its 23 and three wides in the game, LSU got Peterson matched up on Mark Barron, one-on-one. Peterson sped past Barron running left to right in the middle of the field. Jefferson rolled left and Peterson was open for a big gainer with two steps on Barron. But Jefferson pulled the ball down and ran for 3 yards."

"Jefferson made a horrible throw on a short route to Peterson, the ball behind him and thrown into the ground"

"Jefferson kept for 6 yards but had Randle and Mitch Joseph open on turn routes"

"Jefferson failed to pull the trigger despite having Randle open over the middle and Clement on the sideline."

"On one of the pass plays, Jefferson passed up an open Randle and scrambled for 3 yards."

also, remember before the game that Peterson said:

"I feel like I can play a big role, but I feel like their linebackers can't guard me one-on-one and I don't think their safeties can either. So, if the ball comes my way, I'll make an opportunity with it," Peterson said.

"They're slow. They're big, they're like 260. I don't think they can run with me. I feel like I can get open with their linebackers."

if Mett had received pt in the first 4 games I have no doubt Jj and Jl would have been holding clipboards their senior seasons. Miles is too stubborn.

And a lot of those players at those "mediocre" teams .. will be drafted to the NFL this year ... because they played for a team that showcased their talent.

M Floyd of Notre Dame is a top WR draft choice this year. And .. I'd say that N.D. was a pretty mediocre program the last few years. ... maybe even down right suckish.

It is a fact, LSU doesn not produce highly sought after WR's, because LSU does not showcase them.

I mean look at Blackmon ... would he even be on the radar if not for Brandon Weeden??? Would he be the rave of the age if he played at LSU .... NOPE!! He'd barely be known.

Here's something to argue on. If LSU had A. J. McCarron at QB and Bama had JJ at QB who would have won?

Are you kidding me Saban would have never recruited JJ to begin with. Why JJ was on this team I will never understand.

You have to wonder what is going to happen when recruits start reading this kind of stuff.
I hope CLM's is able to overcome this kind of stuff but it is really becoming a can of worms.
