I was mainly talking about guys like Shep, and Peterson, guys who were slated to have monster careers at LSU but just never got the damn ball because our offensive identity or lack there of, and quarterbacks sucked so much.

Miles knows all of this. He just needs to be able to trust the QB. He has made a damn strong effort to get a passing QB in here.

1 - Zach Lee took the money and went to the Dodgers. He will be Oklahoma State's QB in a couple more years.
2 - Gunner Keil couldn't leave his momma.
3 - Mettenberger, its his team.

The story of the last three years is that LSU has not had an SEC-caliber quarterback. That is the main reason that receivers are discontented. Both QB's have scattered passes all over they field. If Mettenberger has superior accuracy, a conservative coach like Les is a lot more likely to run a passing game consistently.

Nothing you said takes notice the O line was swiss cheese. JJ holds the ball too long and would have been sacked often and probably thrown interceptions.. JL would have been a sitting duck with deer in the headlight eyes probably throwing picks or getting injured.

So to go out "guns blazing" was to insure a loss probably a rout. Playing it close to the vest and giving our special teams a shot at the type of GAME CHANGING plays they made all year from Oregon to Ga. Let's see TM7 against Oregon and WVA & Ar & Ga. Mo with ints and KO returns. Eric Reid Nov 5. When & where did the O ignite the game???? NOT in any game by either QB. They fed off of D & ST then wore opponents down and blew them out in the 4th qtr.

I'm not happy with the out come and wish Lee had been given an early shot. BUT I can see that it was reasonable to rely on what brought you 13 wins including one over Bama.

If, if, if, if .... all of it speculation on both our parts. However this analysis at least is based on what happened in games through out the year.

I am going to come back to you

Saban knew that with JJ at QB he could have a strong rush defense, he had players set for the run , he may rush 4 or he may rush 3 but all were staying close to home . You are right in the fact, a very light pass rush. With JJ there was no need to rush . Make JJ have to change a play to create a play , JJ could not do that . The shovel pass is a good example , he held the ball to long . Bama dared LSU to throw the ball. I say Miles did not coach to win , he had players on the bench that could have helped . J Lee would have at lead the team to the 25 or 30 yd line for a FG . I will not say with J Lee we would have beat bama , but it could have been a good game . The hat was empty .That is not Miles' style of coaching .The short 5 to 10 yard pass would have made the d backs play off a bit , the 20 yd pass would have opened up the running game . But we will never know , it is all for chat now . JJ was Bama's best defensive player , and should have been given the game ball .

    Amen to that.

Mett looked like the best QB to me in the Spring game and threw the ball with authority in his limited opportunities. Can't fault Miles for starting Lee and utilizing JJ from time to time, because we were rolling with that combiniation, but I do wish he could have let Mett been the "back-up" to Lee, such that if Lee faltered, Mett would come in and played with JJ still playing his change-of-pace role.

Mett could have grabbed a lot of snaps in the fourth quarter of several of our games, and could have been in a groove by the end of the season in the championship games.

Point being, if he beat out Aaron Murray at UGA, and no one could argue either JL or JJ are better than Murray, it stands to reason Mett was probably better than anything we were using.

A 4 man front????? Are you kidding me.....sure he had a four man front but the other 7 men were never farther back than 7 yards from the line of scrimage......Nick was Daring jefferson and Miles to throw the ball deep or go routes.....it just never happened......3 attempts...one completed for 19 yards(20%) of their total offense...the other just off the fingertips of beckham which had he caught was going for a TD, safety tried to cut the route and missed.....and the other one yard more to the right and IT goes for 6pts. So to not throw the ball deeper after that was insane.....les played the entire game 7 yards from the line of scrimage....played right into bama's streghnth!!

Tusk you saw the same game I did. Bama didn't do anything flashy on defense, what they did was play assignment football. They weren't overly aggressive on the option, they stayed in their lanes, and they made tackles.

I still think they could have been beaten on the edges but our receivers would have had to block flawlessly, and why we had OBJ on the edge baffles me. James Wright, Reuben Randle, and Jarvis Landry are your 3 blocking receivers. James Wright I never saw in the game, Landry I saw once. In fact it got so bad, that mother f'n JC Copeland lined up as a wide out to the far left on one play. Successful plays on the edge would have softened the middle up just enough for some power dive runs. It's almost like Miles was at practice, telling his team they were going to get it right before they did anything else, oh 1 yard loss, do it again til you get it right, oh 2 yard gain, do it again til you get it right.

    Baffling.....

Not surprised. Sorry to say but there will most likely be more of this coming out. Some of these guys feel let down not JUST from the BCSNC, but from how little they were used through out their career here and not all of these guys are worried about biting their tongue in hopes of getting their foot in the coaching door.
