Nah bruh, can't roll like that. New day and age my friend, have to figure out how to cut the cable yet keep the cable quality.
it is good question, and i have wretled with it. the answer is twofold: 1. LSU is so good now that plenty of their games are on CBS, which you can watch in stellar over the air HD. 2. you can use your 360 or roku to stream espn or espn 360, if your cable provider allows espn 360. the new roku,l the one i have, streams 1080p or, like me, you can walk the the wing place across the street and watch the game. or one of the 8 or so bars within a quarter mile of my house
yes, i guess i am still paying the cable guys, i have time warner internet. it is only 40 a month. i also have the option of Verizon fios, which i may switch to. still though, i am paying 40 now, when i used to pay timne warner over 100. its a decent savings. and i mean it about reading books, they are way better than tv. to those who watch the real housewife shows. lets be serious for a moment. please do not watch those. they are a bad influence and make you sad. seriously. dont watch them. when they are on, invite a friend out for drinks instead. that sort of vapid nonsense makes you a bad person.
most new tvs have a cable tuner inside. my previous tv had a cablecard slot and i used it, i didnt have a box. these days you can even built a media center pc with a cablecard and get the premium channels with tivo functionality without renting a silly cable company box that sucks ass.
yes. the cable card is a government mandated thing that allows people to get premiums (and pay for them) without paying for the box. newer tivos have a cablecard slot and you can get all premiums with dvr (obviously) without a cox or time warner box also espn is available hd streaming over xbox 360. streaming sounds ****ty, but it isnt. it never buffers and it looks great.
My wife watches them every once in awhile and I've seen a couple of episodes (mostly NJ). I agree that pretty much any activity is better than watching them although disagree they will make you sad. Seeing rich people with problems and personal issues infinitely worse than your own makes most people happier. I have Comcast cable and internet but no landline. I've heard some people say good things about Uverse. We have T Mobile mobile plans (not tied into any contract) and I have a separate AT&T iPhone through work. Now that everyone has some sort of smartphone, my wife would like to get one. I may try to get rid of my 2nd cell although want to keep the number I've had for 10+ yrs. Even though my work cell is free, we're probably paying too much in total and should look into other options.
It would seem to me that for good channels would be so expensive that it wouldn't be worth it to go a-la-cart. I bet the five cable channels I watch would be the most expensive, and cost not much less than the 150 cable package.
