Yea, I was perusing the buoy data last night via wunderground and they were expecting 65 foot seas in some areas. I don't like fishing in anything over 3 foot seas...can't imagine 65!!!

I have heard 2 different reports on the levee. One said it was the Intercoastal Canal and the other was The mississippi River.

Also Part of the Superdome room is reported blown off and roof is leaking.

And the pumps have stopped working in N.O they wont be back on until 4 this afternoon and the water in the french quarter is already surpassed the curbs.

I believe its the Industrial Canal in New Orleans East which would make sense given the track of the storm. I'm sure the levee at the Lake Fron is taking a licking at this point.

CNN's saying the levee that's broken is in the Ninth Ward. 5-6 feet of water there now...that's one washed up ghetto.

The state senator who represents St. Bernard Parish and parts of Plaquemine Parish said all of St. Bernard is under water and people are trapped in the roofs of their homes.

"There are people in their attics hollering for help," said state Sen. Walter Boasso, who was in the state emergency operations center Monday morning. He said he had been told that "this is worse than Betsy," the hurricane that flooded the same area 40 years ago. "People are trapped and we cannot get them out," Boasso said. Plans are being made to launch 60 boats into the parish to try to rescue people once the storm has passed, which may be a few more hours, he said.

He said there was 4.5 feet of water in the second floor of one sheriff's substation and 2.5 feet of water in the second floor of some homes in the heart of Chalmette.
The water was rising about a foot per hour for a while, Boasso said.

This is from the WWL site:

Homeland Security Chief Terry Ebbert estimates it may take a month to get power back to everyone in New Orleans.

Councilman Oliver Thomas said he had received 120 distress calls from people in the Ninth Ward trapped by the storm. He said crews can not get to these people until hurricane force winds cease, the guess for that time frame is about 2 p.m.

Karen Swensen reports that Charity Hospital lost its windows on the 4th floor and that patients are being huddled in the hallways.

Senator Walter Boasso of St. Bernard Parish says there is 12 feet of water in most of the parish, up to the second floor in many homes.

Reports of 3-4 feet of water in Lakeview.

Apartment building on Wright Avenue in Terrytown has collapsed with people inside, according to Jefferson Parish Sheriff Harry Lee. Rescue crews have not been able to get to the scene as of 9:30 a.m.

Karen Swensen says there is 3 feet of water downtown near the Hyatt. She reports several office windows coming out whole from buildings.

Two holes ripped in Superdome roof, visible from facility floor, according to Associated Press reports.

.. A LEVEE BREACH OCCURRED ALONG THE INDUSTRIAL CANAL AT TENNESSE STREET. 3 TO 8 FEET OF WATER IS EXPECTED DUE TO THE BREACH...LOCATIONS IN THE WARNING INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO ARABI AND 9TH WARD OF NEW ORLEANS.

St. Bernard Parish spokesman Larry Ingargiola says the parish's two shelters at Chalmette High and St. Bernard High are suffering major damage. He said Chalmette High shelter is losing its roof, and St. Bernard High has plenty of broken windows and glass. He estimates 300-plus refugees at the two sites.

Entergy says 317,000 customers were without power as of 6 a.m. Cleco reported 40,000 without power in St. Tammany Parish.

St. Bernard Parish officials say most of the parish has no power.

Sounds like he doesn't get that he's not in ground zero. That would be somewhere around Gulfport, MS and I'll guarantee you that place will look like a bomb went off.
