Here is how the computers see it. 1. Texas 2. Southern California 3. Penn State 4. Virginia Tech 5. Ohio St 6. Oregon 7. Miami 8. LSU 9. West Virginia 10. UCLA 11. Auburn 12. Notre Dame 13. Wisconsin 14. TCU 15. Texas Tech 16. Georgia Tech 17. Michigan 18. Boston College 19. Alabama 20. Northwestern 23. Georgia We beat Mississippi and moved down 3 spots on the computers. BS.
Appy state is the proverbal turd in the punchbowl. I don't think I-AA teams are factored in so we don't get credit for that win. At least, that is what I think the rule is but may be wrong.
North Texas (2-8) Ole Miss (3-7) Tennessee (4-6) App State (doesn't count in the BCS, we'll have to play the SECCG to actually have 11 games under our belt) Ms. State (2-8) Ariz. St (5-5) Opp W-L is raping us right now. That's 5 teams on our schedule that have terrible records and a 6th that doesn't even count in the standings. You have to understand. Tenn usually wins at least 8 games, North Texas usually wins their conference and Ariz St went 8-3 last year. This schedule looked a lot better before the year than it does now.
You are dead on, minus one small correction. The Appalachian State game is only not factored into one computer (Colley Matrix). It does indeed count in the other 5, so it's hurting us as well.
I see your point, I guess but UT has played a pretty weak schedule because the Big 12 is pretty sad this year.
Ohio State OOC is pretty impressive. Also factor in they've played 10 games instead of 9 and while the Big 12 is "sad", the records of the teams are good.
Can we overcome a .0528 deficit? I say with two games left on our schedule and none on Piss St's, yes.
Looking at opponents of Penn State and LSU, here are the remaining important games involvong the opponents of each team: Friday November 25th Arizona @ Arizona State Saturday November 26th Tennessee @ Kentucky Florida St. @ Florida N. Texas @ Arkansas St. South Florida @ UConn Cincinatti @ Rutgers Saturday Dec 3 South Florida @ West Virginia * Bold indicates team LSU needs to win.
I know I may get blasted but we only have five good teams in the SEC this year. The rest suck. Thats why we are getting killed in the BCS. Look at the ACC I believe they may have Eight teams bowl eligable. Thats why a two loss Miami is still ahead of use on the computers. The weak teams in the SEC need to get it together.
More Brad Edwards: I say it's always darkest before the dawn. BTW, the Aggie girlfriend just got two comp tix to Friday's game. I'll have the LSU visor on, of course, and will (gulp) root for the Ags to shock the world. I'll take the chance of some huge pro-JoPa groundswell following an Aggie upset. My take is JoPa's used to getting jobbed out of national title shots, so what's one more screw job to him, anyway? Seriously, I'd see a solid Southern contingent rising to LSU's defense in the media for two reasons. One, from Tennessee to Florida to Louisiana, voters will be too damn proud to let the SEC champ get jobbed a second year in a row if they can help it and two, you'll see an avalanche of feel-good Katrina-related stories as well. I'll take the Aggie bird in the hand should it come this Friday...
