This is the last year SOS is getting D Snyder's money from the Skins. He might be looking to make what the other big boys are getting. http://uscsports.cstv.com/sports/m-footbl/spec-rel/112304aak.html Earlier in the day, Spurrier's seven-year contract was approved by the University's Board of Trustees Executive Committee. The contract calls for an annual guaranteed compensation of $1.25 million, including a base salary of $250,000 and outside income from radio, television and apparel totaling $1 million. The contract also has an attractive incentives package. There is a $250,000 annual buyout clause in the agreement.
He realizes it wont get much better for him at SC....maybe a 9-3 season at best. The great coach that he is, 9-3 won't cut it for him. He has to win championships, or at the very least compete for them. That's the kinda coach I would like to have.
Great Coach ? My idea of a great coach is someone who can take what he is given and then build on it to make good team. So far to me Spurrier has only shown that he can win or do anything in the football arena unless he is surrounded by the best coaches and the best talent he can buy. Then again at Washington he was given anything and everything he wanted and he failed miserably. He hasn't really shown that much at SC but they have a decent team. Maybe if he stayed at SC a couple more years and then we could see if he could really recruit and do something I might be more inclined to agree with you on him being a great coach. B
I dont know if I believe him or not but on ESPN last night they said that he would sit down and talk if they wanted to contact him about the job.
