Well, his line improved this season. I still wish he'd play more underclassmen, but the OL was not a liability this year.
Didnt have my sarcasm hat on ............ Suprised someone hasnt gone into that yet. Guess waiting to see who next OC will be first. QB situation is what it is whoever comes in if the 2 seniors play.
Agreed, sir. The way the offense turned around at the end of the year gave me new hope for Gary. Looked like a turn back to 2007. Hopefully, the sudden change in offensive production was due to the involvement of some guy named Billy, and not a result of Gary being allowed to "open it up". Hopefully. . .
The improvement of the offense in opinion was due to the offensive line play. We were able to run the ball and that opened up the passing game for Jefferson. Also the line blocked a lot better in pass protection. Jefferson if you watch the cotton again, still holds onto the ball for forever. Think about this, in the Cotton Bowl, LSU ran the ball 53 times, and threw it 19 times. Now granted you can take sacks and change them to passing, and maybe 3 times JJ scrambled instead of throwing it, but that makes 48 rush to 24 pass. It's the offensive line play that consistently got better at the end of the year, thus making the passing game alot better.
And Crowton was the "Offensive" coordinator, not the Jordan Jefferson Coordinator. If the offense got better, Crowton gets the credit.
But in the last year of his contract. Maryland gives him $500K and a multi-year contract. Coaches paid at that level seek tenure. Les did and Crowton did too.
